Happy Mondays legend Bez will miss this weekend’s episode of Dancing on Ice after testing positive for Covid-19.

57-year-old Bez made his debut on Dancing on Ice on Sunday night (16th January) where he skated to Happy Mondays’ cover of ‘Step On’ with partner Angela Egan while wearing a melon crash helmet.

Despite scoring the lowest on the night – just 12.5 out of a possible 40 – Bez’s performance went down a storm with his beloved fans.

Behold Bez's performance on Dancing On Ice:

Just two days later, Bez has now confirmed he will miss training and Sunday night’s show due to contracting Covid-19.

“I’m gutted because I’m going to be missing training but I’m looking forward to skating on the show again for week three,” Bez said. “I’ll be tuning in at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend.”

In a statement an ITV spokesperson said: “We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines.”

Alongside still touring with Happy Mondays, Bez has appeared on numerous TV shows in recent years including Celebrity Gogglebox (alongside Shaun Ryder), Bargain Hunt and Celebrity Masterchef.

Fresh from triumphing with James on their UK arena tour shortly before Christmas, Happy Mondays recently announced an extensive tour for October and November 2022. Tickets are on sale from Absolute Radio Tickets now.
