Foo Fighters postpone tour and confirm 'killer' 10th album is done
Bittersweet news from Dave Grohl
Foo Fighters have postponed their upcoming North American Van Tour in April 2020 because of the coronavirus.
Due to call in at Phoenix, Albuquerque, Oklahmoa, Wichita and Knoxville next month, the Van Tour celebrates Foo Fighters’ 25th anniversary by revisiting stops from their fledgling 1995 tour.
Unsurprisingly, the short run of shows have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic with the opening three dates already rescheduled for early December.
Dave Grohl has issued a brilliant statement to announce the postponement – and he’s also confirmed that Foo Fighters’ “killer” tenth studio album is complete.
Referencing Foo Fighters’ show at Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg in June 2015, where he completed the gig despite breaking his leg, Dave wrote:
“Hi, this is Dave. Remember me? The guy who wouldn’t even postpone a show when my goddamn leg was falling off?
“Well… playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another…
“We f--kin’ love you guys. So let’s do this right and rain check s---. The album is done, and it’s f--kin' killer. The lights and stage are in the trucks, ready to go. The SECOND we are given the go ahead, we’ll come tear s--- up like we always do. Promise.
“Now go wash your hands. Dave.”
Over the past few weeks, dozens of tours, concerts and festivals have been postponed because of coronavirus and among the array of artists affected are The Who, Santana, KISS, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Yes, Pearl Jam, Alice Cooper, Rage Against The Machine, Magnum, Green Day, Whitesnake and Queen + Adam Lambert.
Foo Fighters' ninth studio album 'Concrete and Gold' was released in September 2017.
At the time of writing, there have been more than 177,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) around the globe and more than 6,600 deaths.
