Cementing his status as The Nicest Guy in Rock, Dave Grohl pulled a 16-hour shift over the weekend cooking food for 500 homeless people in Los Angeles.

Rowan Vansleve, who is the Chief Fundraising Officer of the charity Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, has shared a video on Instagram of Foo Fighters legend Dave Grohl sending a good luck message to Vanseleve as he takes part in a 350-mile charity fundraising from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

Alongside the video message, Vanseleve revealed that Dave worked a 16-hour overnight shift BBQing food for homeless people affected by the storms sweeping California.

Vanselve wrote: “And in the middle of our 350-mile run to end homelessness, we got the coolest video ever from Dave Grohl, of the Foo Fighters. Not only did I wish us luck, but he cooked for hundreds of people who live in our shelters in the middle of one of the worst storms.

“Nothing but love and respect for Dave.”

The video clip ends with Dave holding some food and the words ‘There goes my hero.’

Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission’s mission statement is to provide ‘services for individuals lacking the means to provide food, shelter and clothing for themselves and their families.’

Unsurprisingly, Dave Grohl’s latest charitable endeavour has gained a lot of attention amongst fans online.

One wrote on Twitter: “So, without telling anyone, Dave Grohl brought his giant smoker and cooked/fed barbecue and sides for 500 folks at Hope Mission in L.A. during the storms. Paid for it all. Worked 16 hours. So, when the aliens get here and ask “who’s in charge?”, I think we take them to Dave Grohl.”
