Feeder release new 'Just A Day' video to raise money for PPE
Their classic video is updated for 2020
Feeder have released a new version of their classic ‘Just A Day’ video to highlight the plight of the NHS and keyworkers and raise money for PPE equipment.
Originally released as a B-side to the single ‘Seven Days in the Sun’, Feeder decided to release ‘Just a Day’ as a single in 2001 when it appeared on the Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec video game.
Now considered one of Feeder’s defining anthems, the pioneering ‘Just A Day’ video featured VHS video clips of fans singing and rocking along, which they submitted to Feeder’s newly created official website.
Feeder frontman Grant Nicholas remembers: “We were on tour supporting REM, so it was a bit difficult finding time to shoot a video. The director said: ‘I’ve got this idea’. We thought it was absolutely bonkers.”
Director David Mould adds: "The budget was sufficiently low for me to feel free to offer up a 'risky' but fun idea to the band. Years before I'd made video of myself kind of dancing / moshing alone in my front room to Jane's Addiction's song 'Been Caught Stealing.... It was hugely embarrassing. I hoped the result would be a little cooler.
"We soon found out that the tapes that were sent were not only free of the constraints of trying to be cool, they had lovely pathos, energy, naivety and no little invention.”
Almost two decades on, Feeder have decided to update the video featuring frontline workers and fans, as Grant Nicholas explains: “The original video has become a classic, especially being in an era pre-YouTube and TikTok.
“We have always been against remaking it but after messages from fans in Italy we decided to revisit it again and highlight the plight of our own NHS and keyworkers."
Feeder have released the video to raise money for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for healthcare workers on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis.
Fans who are able to can donate to two online fundraisers at Crowdfunder and GoFundMe.
