West Yorkshire indie rock icons Embrace have announced a 10-date UK tour to support the release of their eighth studio album ‘How To Be A Person Like Other People’ which lands on August 26th.

The dates kick off with a show at Aberdeen’s Music Hall on Wednesday, August 31st and run until Sunday, September 11th when the long-lived band led by brothers Danny and Richard McNamara (vocalist and guitarist, respectively) conclude matters at the UEA in Norwich. Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday, April 22nd, at 9am.

The band will be supported on all dates by Greater Manchester’s optimistically named indie popsters Lottery Winners. Embrace will precede the tour and album release with an open air show at Kelvingrove Bandstand in Glasgow on Thursday, June 23rd – they’ll be joined by Fife hotshots Shambolic.

‘How To Be A Person Like Other People’ is the quintet’s first album since 2018’s ‘Love Is A Basic Need’ which peaked at No.5 on the UK chart. In March, frontman Danny McNamara hosted a Zoom meeting with fans during which he discussed how he takes inspiration for his lyrics and briefly displayed part of the new album’s artwork. He’s remained fairly tight-lipped about the content of the new record, but fans were invited to send in “photographs of the things that make you the person that you are”.

Of the new recordings, the band stated: “Over the last couple of years while the world was locked down we've been locked away writing and recording a set of songs to rival anything we've ever done before. We're all massively proud. It's epic!”

In October 2020, Embrace performed their 2004 anthem 'Gravity' exclusively for Absolute Radio. The performance saw the band – completed by drummer Mike Heaton, bassist Steve Firth and keyboard player Mickey Dale – play the Coldplay-penned song live in the studio. ‘Gravity’ made it to No.7 in the UK singles chart during August 2004, their biggest hit since 1998’s ‘Come Back To What You Know’. They subsequently went higher still, with ‘Nature’s Law’ and ‘World At Your Feet’ both making the Top Three in 2006.
