Corrie bosses invite huge musician to appear on the show
He loves the soap!
Coronation Street have revealed that they've offered a walk on part to a very famous musician, after it turns out he's a massive fan of the TV soap.
'Like a Rolling Stone' singer Bob Dylan has revealed in a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, that watching the long-running TV show makes him feel "at home".
He explained: "Two or three hours in front of the tube is a lot of binge watching for me. Too much time to be involved with the screen. Or maybe I’m too old for it. I’ve binge watched Coronation Street, Father Brown and some early Twilight Zones. I know they're old-fashioned shows but they make me feel at home.
"I'm no fan of packaged programmes or news shows. I never watch anything foul-smelling or evil. Nothing disgusting, nothing dog ass."
On hearing about his love for Corrie, the show's producer Iain MacLeod, told The Daily Telegraph that he could imagine the singer having a walk on part in the soap.
"To hear that Bob Dylan is a Coronation Street viewer blows my mind," Iain said.
"I would absolutely love the idea of him turning up in the Rovers Return one night. Maybe we could write in an open mic night and a mysterious singer could roll in out of the Manchester rain and do a turn."
He went on to say: "Both he and Coronation Street established their reputations in the 1960s, both have championed working class voices and causes, both tell stories with a particular sensibility and sense of humour."
Bob has yet to respond to the job offer, but it wouldn't be the first time Coronation Street has welcomed some famous faces onto the soap. Back in 1997, Cliff Richard appeared in the Rovers Return, Sir Ian McKellen played Mel Hutchwright in 2005, and Joan Collins appeared as herself in a Viva Las Vegas special in 1997.
Meanwhile, Bob has announced a new album, due for release early next year. Taking to social media last month he revealed 'Fragments: Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996-1997)', will be released on 27th January.
