Rock icon Billy Idol has lined up a six-date UK arena tour for June 2022 with very special guests The Go-Go’s.

The Roadside Tour 2022 opens at Glasgow The SSE Hydro on Saturday 11th June 2022 and calls in at Manchester AO Arena, Birmingham Resorts World Arena, London The O2 and Cardiff Motorpoint Arena before culminating at Leeds First Direct Arena on Tuesday 21st June 2022.

The tour will see Billy perform a clutch of new music alongside classics from his musical arsenal, and he’ll be joined by long-time lead guitarist and collaborator Steve Stevens at all shows.

Billy Idol says: “I can’t wait to get back on the road in the UK again and enjoy that exhilaration and energy that only comes from playing in front of a live British audience.”

Very special guests The Go-Go’s are making their first UK appearance in more than quarter of a century on the tour. The band said: “We are thrilled to be sharing the stage with Billy Idol on his 2022 summer UK tour dates.

“We haven’t had an opportunity to play for our British fans in 26 years and can’t wait to see you all.”

Billy Idol - The Roadside Tour 2022

The tour is named after Billy Idol’s four-song collection, ‘The Roadside EP’, which came out earlier this month and is his first release in seven years.

Billy wrote the EP during the pandemic and it was inspired by his near-fatal motorcycle accident in 1990. He explains: “It seemed quite logical and natural to write something about my motorcycle accident.

“I may have been saying, well, this is what people go through when they are in trouble. I think I was unconsciously making that connection.

“Certainly, the motorcycle accident was the catharsis, the wake-up moment. Maybe I left behind the irreverent, youthful Billy and opened the door for a more attentive father and more sensitive musician. Something did get left by the roadside, but it was not necessarily a bad thing in the end.”

Alongside Billy Idol and Steve Stevens, Billy’s band on the UK tour includes Stephen McGrath (bass, backing vocals), Billy Morrison (guitar, backing vocals), Paul Trudeau (keyboards, backing vocals) and drummer Erik Eldenius.
