The mighty Biffy Clyro are dead certs to secure their third UK Number 1 album this week with their phenomenal latest record ‘A Celebration of Endings’.

Released last Friday (14th August), at the midweek stage ‘A Celebration of Endings’ is currently outperforming the rest of the Top 5 combined with physical and download sales, according to Official Charts Company figures.

When it eventually hits Number 1 on Friday, it will be Biffy Clyro’s third chart-topper following ‘Ellipsis’ in 2016 and ‘Opposites’ in 2013.

Featuring the towering Absolute Radio favourites ‘Instant History’ and ‘Tiny Indoor Fireworks’, the Rich Costey produced ‘A Celebration of Endings’ was originally set for release in May but was pushed back three months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil, James Johnston and Ben Johnston all caught up with Absolute Radio’s Ross Buchanan on album release day last week to talk ‘A Celebration of Endings’ and much, much more. Watch the full interview right here:

Elsewhere on this week’s midweek album chart, Sea Girls are in second spot with their debut studio album ‘Open Up Your Head’, which features the Absolute Radio playlisted gem ‘All I Want To Hear You Say’.

And Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield is sitting pretty at Number 3 with his second solo album ‘Even in Exile’.

A concept album about the life and death of Chilean activist Víctor Jara, ‘Even in Exile’ is the follow-up to James’ 2006 debut solo record ‘The Great Western’.

Last month, James Dean Bradfield recorded an exclusive three-song session for Absolute Radio featuring the ‘Even in Exile’ songs ‘The Boy From The Plantation’ and ‘From The Hands of Violeta’, plus Manic Street Preachers’ 1993 song ‘From Despair To Where.’
