Happy Mondays maracas shaker Bez honoured the late-great Meat Loaf with a showstopping routine to his seminal anthem ‘Bat Out of Hell’ on Dancing On Ice last night (20th February).

Bez took to the ice on a motorbike while wearing leather attire, and, alongside partner Angela Egan, he proceeded to skate along to Meat Loaf’s 1977 song while flanked by backing dancers armed with flame throwers.

Bez mock performed on a guitar at one point, before the routine reached its euphoric climax with the Happy Mondays icon being winched above the ice rink while wearing a pair of giant bat wings.

Although Bez scored his highest points tally of the series from the judges with 22.5, unfortunately the ‘Bat Out of Hell’ routine wasn’t enough to save him and later in the night he became the fifth celebrity to be booted off the ITV show.

Alongside still touring with Happy Mondays, Bez has appeared on numerous TV shows in recent years including Celebrity Gogglebox (alongside Shaun Ryder), Bargain Hunt and Celebrity Masterchef.

Fresh from triumphing with James on their UK arena tour shortly before Christmas, Happy Mondays recently announced an extensive tour for October and November 2022. Tickets are on sale from Absolute Radio Tickets now.

Meat Loaf died on Thursday 20th January 2022 aged 74.
