Beavis and Butt-Head creator Mike Judge has shared the first look at the middle-aged duo ahead of their comeback later this year.

Judge took to Twitter in the early hours of this morning to share sketches of the pair, and wrote: “Beavis and Butt-Head will be returning this year with a brand new movie and more on Paramount+. No exact date yet, but soon. They need some time to get back in shape.”

In the sketches, Butt-Head has morphed into a King of the Hill-esque character with a receding hairline and considerable beer belly, while Beavis has grown wrinklier and more angular in his old age.

The eponymous lead characters will this time star as Generation X parents to Generation Z kids in the show’s resurrection.

Mike Judge is once again writing and producing the Beavis and Butt-Head reboot and he also voices the two main characters.

When Beavis and Butt-Head’s return was first announced in summer 2020, Judge said: “It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again.”

MTV Entertainment Group president Chris McCarthy said: "Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can't wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own."

The cult cartoon comedy about two idiotic teenage couch potatoes whose favourite pastime was critiquing music videos originally ran from 1992 to 1997 on MTV and it was revived for a first time in 2011 for an eighth season.

The spin-off movie Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, which featured Red Hot Chili Peppers’ cover of ‘Love Rollercoaster’ on the soundtrack, was released in 1996.
