Arctic Monkeys announce phone-free concert
Fresh from headlining Reading and Leeds Festival
Last updated 31st Aug 2022
Arctic Monkeys have announced an intimate concert for next month where mobile phones are strictly prohibited.
Fresh from playing huge outdoor shows across Europe this summer, the Sheffield quartet will play the 3,000-capacity Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday 22nd September.
The performance will be professionally filmed and recorded so all mobile phones and recording devices are banned for the entirety of Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Nick O’Malley and Matt Helders’ show.
Kings Theatre writes: “Upon arrival at the venue, all phones will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that may only be opened at the end of the event.
“Guests maintain possession of their devices at all times and can access them throughout the event only in designated Phone Use Areas within the venue. All devices will be re-secured in Yondr pouches before returning to the performance space.”
Arctic Monkeys join the likes of Bob Dylan and Jack White who have prohibited phone usage by using Yondr at recent concerts.
Last week, Arctic Monkeys announced they were releasing their seventh studio album ‘The Car’ on Friday 21st October 2022 via Domino Records.
‘The Car’ features 10 tracks including ‘I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am’, which has featured at recent Arctic Monkeys live shows, plus lead single 'There'd Better Be A Mirrorball'.
All the songs on ‘The Car’ were penned by Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, and the record was produced by James Ford and recorded at Butley Priory in Suffolk, RAK Studios in London and La Frette in Paris.
Arctic Monkeys’ ‘The Car’ is available to pre-order on standard LP, CD, cassette and digital formats right now.
A deluxe LP will be available on limited grey vinyl with a tip on sleeve and mounted gloss cover image via the AM Official Store, while an exclusive, custard coloured LP will be available at independent record shops and HMV stores.
