Taylor Swift is the latest musician to have been given the sea shanty treatment!

The US Navy Band have covered the singer-songwriter’s 2012 hit ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ in a video shared on their social channels.

The sea shanty singing style gained popularity on TikTok in the last couple of months before going viral largely due to Nathan Evans’ rendition of ‘Wellerman’, which has now been viewed millions of times and landed the former postie a record deal with Polydor.

Sharing the parody cover on Twitter, the US Navy Band wrote, ‘We were very much into this music before it was cool.’

The clip shows the band performing socially distanced in a large hall. The US Navy’s Chief of Information Charlie Brown added, ‘This sea shanty parody may VERY MUCH not be your jam… I’m so thankful for the talent, creativity and sense of humor of our @usnavyband!’

The US Navy Band have performed more traditional sea shanties on their Youtube page.

In 2020, Taylor released two surprise albums ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’.
