Who is Post Malone?

Post Malone is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and also guitarist. A man of many talents, Post Malone has become a name synonymous with modern music, due to his unique blend of genres.

It won't come as a surprise that Post Malone is in fact the rapper's stage name, with his real name being Austin Richard Post. Born in Syracuse, New York, he was raised by his father Richard - who used to be a DJ - and his stepmother, Jodie. Post and his family later moved to Grapevine, Texas, when he was nine-years-old, where he began to play the guitar.

Post's professional musical career dates back to 2011, with his incredible journey boasting chart-topping albums, hit singles, huge collaborations and sold-out shows.

How old is he?

Born on 4th July 1995, Post Malone is 29-years-old at the time of writing.

Where did his name come from?

The stage name 'Post Malone' clearly pays homage to the artist's real surname (Post) - however, it may surprise you to know that the name was actually the product of a rap name generator, which he derived when he was 14 or 15.

Despite many thinking that the name drew inspiration from professional basketball player Karl Malone, it was actually the product of the singer inputting his birth name to the online generator, and the rest is history...

What genre is Post Malone's music?

Defying easy categorisation, Post Malone has become known for his genre-blending music. In his early career, Post was typically thought of as falling into the hip-hop genre, incorporating trap music and being commonly referred to as a rapper.

Not only a talented rapper, Post is often heard singing in his songs, with distinctive melodic vocals. Genres Post Malone explores and blends in his music include hip-hop, trap, pop and R&B - with his most recent venture seeing him incorporate country music to his repertoire.

Not only has Post Malone collaborated with some of the biggest names in country music - including Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Blake Shelton and Chris Stapleton - but he's even releasing his own country album, as well as taking it on tour.

Post Malone's country songs

Posty has always expressed a love for country music, and in recent years has increasingly incorporated country influences into his music and lyrics. Exploring the genre's sound, his ambitions to delve into the world of country arguably became the most clear in 2021 when he covered Brad Paisley’s 2002 hit 'I’m Gonna Miss Her'. He covered the track while taking part in Matthew McConaughey’s 'We’re Texas' fundraiser in March of that year - where he also covered Sturgill Simpson’s 'You Can Have the Crown'.

Post Malone later released his cover of 'I'm Gonna Miss Her' exclusively on Amazon Music. Since then, he has also covered various other country songs including Hootie and the Blowfish’s 1995 track 'Only Wanna Be With You' and Randy Travis’ 1987 'Forever and Ever, Amen'.

His bold journey into country music was then further established in 2024, when Post Malone released various songs which saw him collaborate with some of the biggest names in the genre - bringing us the chart-topping 'I Had Some Help' with Morgan Wallen in May, 'Pour Me A Drink' with Blake Shelton in June and, of course, the popular 'Guy For That' with Luke Combs in July. Then, in August, he then collaborated with Chris Stapleton on the epic 'California Sober'.

'I Had Some Help' topped various charts around the world, and just two months after its release has been certified Gold in the UK.

Is he releasing a country album?

He most certainly is! Post Malone's highly-anticipated upcoming debut country album is called 'F-1 Trillion', with the singer teasing snippets of songs we can expect to hear on the track-list. Set to be an incredible force in the genre, it is thought that - similar to Beyonce's 'Cowboy Carter' - Post will potentially attract a new audience to the traditional sound.

Posty's country album 'F-1 Trillion' will be released on 16th August 2024, with him taking the album on US tour dates from September.

Is he going on tour?

He sure is! He doesn't, however, have any UK dates lined up at the moment. His 'F-1 Trillion' tour kicks off in September 2024, featuring shows across the United States, through to the end of October.

His Grand Ole Opry debut

Cementing his country status, Post Malone made his debut in the Grand Ole Opry circle on 14th August 2024. Is he married?

Not yet - but he is engaged! In 2022, Post Malone revealed that he and his partner were expecting their first child - with him then revealing in June of that year, on The Howard Stern Show, that he and his girlfriend were engaged and had welcomed their daughter into the world.

Despite sharing his happy news, Post Malone has never named his fiancée or daughter. He has, however, slipped cute stories in here and there about his family, telling the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2023 about his engagement, saying: "It was in Vegas. I had lost a significant amount of money at the table. We go upstairs and I’m off my rocker hammered and I was like, ‘Hey, you wanna marry me?' I got a ring and all this stuff. And she said 'no.' She’s like, ‘Ask me tomorrow,’ and I was like, 'Alright.' And then I did and I was sober and it was nice."

Although he hasn't revealed his daughter's full name, he has given away what her initials are - DDP - with them being tattooed on the right side of his face.

Post Malone's face tattoos

Post Malone's face tattoos have arguably become one of the most distinct features of his appearance - with reports tallying last year that with over 70 tattoos on his whole body (and counting), his face housed at least 14 - at the time...

Upon his 2024 collab with Taylor Swift, on the incredible 'Fortnight', fans were surprised to see his face completely tattoo-less in the music video, with every bit of ink on his face covered.

What are his biggest collaborations?

Famed for being such a versatile artist, it comes as no surprise that Post Malone has collaborated with a wide range of talented singers over the years. From earlier hits such as 'Sunflower' with Swae Lee in 2018, to recent collaborative hits such as 'I Had Some Help' with Morgan Wallen in 2024, let's take a look at some of his biggest collabs so far...
