Lainey Wilson is making her Netflix debut with a documentary titled Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool, which will premiere globally on 22nd April 2026.
The feature follows the GRAMMY-winning country icon at a crucial point in her career, documenting how she is reshaping the idea of a modern country star. As Lainey steps onto stages across the country, the doc explores her personal journey, highlighting the struggles and triumphs behind her recent wave of major success.
What is the documentary about?
Per the official synopsis: Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool follows the star as she 'redefines what it means to be a modern country star, proving that staying true to yourself can lead to major success. The film captures a pivotal moment in her career, exploring the country icon’s personal journey and chronicling her struggles and triumphs as she captivates fans on stage across the country.'
“I couldn’t be more excited that this documentary is going to be on Netflix,” Lainey said. “This was such a special project to make, and I hope that folks who watch it see that no dream is too big and that staying true to who you are will always lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.”
When is the documentary coming out?
Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool will premiere globally on 22nd April 2026.
Who is the creative team behind the documentary?
The documentary is directed by Amy Scott, whose previous work includes Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately? and Sheryl. Amy described the project as “an intimate journey with one of the most dynamic and fascinating artists of today,” adding that Lainey's story is “deeply personal, wildly inspiring, and rooted in authenticity.”
The film is produced by Angus Wall, Terry Leonard, Kent Kubena, Thomas Tull, Jillian Share, Jason Owen and Jen Gorton. Mandelyn Monchick, Josh Miller, Katie Admire, Jillian Apfelbaum and Nicolas Gordon serve as executive producers. The production companies are Teton Ridge Entertainment, Sandbox Studios and MakeMake, in association with Shark Pig Studios.
Lainey Wilson's recent work
Lainey's documentary arrives as she continues to collect major accolades and milestones. She recently hosted the 2025 CMA Awards, becoming the first solo female host since Reba McEntire in 1991, and won Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for Whirlwind.
On stage, Lainey has recently played sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden in New York and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on her Whirlwind World Tour, with more dates this year including shows in Australia and New Zealand. She has also launched her fourth collection with Wrangler, as well as her Golden West boot line and The Lainey Wilson Jewelry Collection.
