Dolly Parton to appear in film adaption of her Run, Rose, Run novel
The book came out earlier this month
Dolly Parton released her debut novel Run, Rose, Run on 7th March 2022, with her album of the same name released just days before. It has now been announced that the book will be getting a film adaptation.
Not only will we get to see the story which Dolly co-wrote with James Patterson play out on screen, but we'll also get to see Dolly herself play a part in the movie.
The pair will produce the film for Hello Sunshine and its founder, actress Reese Witherspoon, will also produce the film alongside the company's President of Film and Television Lauren Neustadter.
Run, Rose, Run has already topped The New York Times bestseller list, and the plot follows a young woman who moves to Nashville to pursue her music career while leaving behind a dark past. Fans were excited to get their hands on the book and follow the gripping thriller story, so it's no surprise a movie adaptation is now in the works.
Speaking about the upcoming film project, Reese said: "Growing up in Nashville, I’ve loved Dolly since the moment I heard her magical voice and saw her luminous personality shine onstage. Beyond her magnetic presence as an artist and performer, she is one of the greatest songwriters and storytellers of our time.
"Her impact knows no bounds – as a musician, actor, writer, businesswoman, activist and all around incredible human being – Dolly Parton is not only an icon to me, but a true inspiration to women and girls everywhere. My admiration for her grew to even greater heights when reading Run, Rose, Run, a gripping and heartbreaking book I couldn’t put down. I couldn’t feel more honoured to be working alongside her and James to bring this remarkable story to the screen."
Dolly also spoke out about teaming up with the Legally Blonde actress: "James and I love Reese and look forward to working with her and her wonderful team”. James commented: “It has been a joy working with Dolly Parton on this book. It’s a great story that we are both proud of. And, in partnership with Reese Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine, we will produce a great movie.”
This won't be the first time Dolly has appeared on the big screen, as she has acted in films like 9 To 5, Steel Magnolias, and The Best Little Wh-rehouse in Texas. We can't wait to see her take on a role in this exciting new film!
