As millions of people around the world are self-isolating and social distancing, Dolly Parton, has revealed plans to read bedtime stories for kids around the world.
The Country music icon announced in a blog post that she would be launching Goodnight with Dolly, a, '10-week series (which) will focus on comforting and reassuring children during the shelter-in-place mandates.'
Writing in the blog post she said, "This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a while, but the timing never felt quite right.
"I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love. It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators. They make us smile, they make us laugh and they make us think." (sic)
The '9 to 5' singer also shared a video to her Imagination Library YouTube channel, where she revealed more details saying, "Hello, I'm Dolly Parton, the Book Lady from the Imagination Library."
Dolly Parton launched her Imagination Library 25 years ago. The organisation gifts books to an estimated 1.5 million children each month and according to the UK website, 'Each month, enrolled children receive a high quality, age appropriate book in the post, free of charge. Children receive books from birth to age five.'
It continues, 'Book selections in the UK include popular characters such as Peppa Pig and beloved authors and illustrators including Lynley Dodd. Additionally, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) assists in the conversion of select titles to braille and audio books for children in the United Kingdom who are blind or partially sighted.'
