The eighth and final series of HBO's Game of Thrones is well underway, with episode 3 leaving many fans shellshocked with the bloodiest and most nerve-racking battle yet. Amongst the bloodshed and chaos of the hugely anticipated 'The Battle of Winterfell' was country's Chris Stapleton!
Yes, the 'Tennessee Whiskey' singer made a cameo as a blue-eyed White Walker in the episode, which saw millions tune in to watch the deadly fate of all our favourite characters.
The episode, titled 'The Long Night', saw Chris Stapleton amongst the Army of the Dead, rising against Kit Harrington's Jon Snow by command of The Night King. Chris Stapleton's wife, Morgane, posted a video of the moment on her Instagram.
The video sees Morgane capturing Chris in full White Walker costume, saying with excitement, "There you are!". The video sent people into a frenzy, with Maren Morris commenting, 'Oh. My. God. 😂😂😂' sic.
Chris took to Instagram himself with a picture of his epic bloody appearance, captioned, 'Winterfell 4.28.2019' sic.
Maren Morris commented again with, “The most epic cameo. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼”.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, Chris Stapleton said, 'I was like, you know, I would gladly fly to wherever in the world just to be a small part and get to watch that show going down.'
The 'Broken Halos' singer continued, 'They were gracious enough to let me come and participate that way,' and ended up filming in Northern Ireland for the epic battle episode.
Telling of the crazy experience, he said, 'They knew we weren’t actors ... so the direction was basically, we’re going to place you, and when we tell you to, open your eyes. And they trained us on how White Walkers are supposed to stand up and move when they’re first waking up. We had a crash course in that.' We think he killed it.
The five-time Grammy winner isn't the only singer to appear in the major series, with Ed Sheeran previously making an appearance. Chris labels himself as a massive fan of Game of Thrones, telling Rolling Stone 'It’s the greatest television show certainly of modern times and possibly ever.'
