Lainey Wilson & Nate Smith Songwriters Round

Lainey Wilson and Nate Smith are two of the most exciting and biggest rising stars in Country Music. Together, they joined Baylen Leonard for a very special songwriters round at Absolute Radio Country’s studios in London.

Songwriters rounds are a nightly occurrence over in Nashville, Tennessee. It sees artists come together to share the stories behind their songs before performing them live.

Lainey Wilson is the current reigning CMA and ACM new Artist of The Year and performed three songs, including her Number 1 record; “Things A Man Oughta Know”.

“This song is really just about having good character,” explains Wilson. “It’s not about whether you can do those things, changing a tyre, catching a fish… You can YouTube all that stuff, it’s about being a good person.”

Before performing his chart-topping hit “Whiskey On You”, Nate Smith said: “The truth is, I was dating someone for a little bit and we broke up…”

“I had a writers retreat two days after that, and wrote the song from there…Smith recalls. “It’s kind of one of those songs at least for me, it feels like it’s getting to the other side of a heartbreak, it’s that anthem of “Hey I’ve got this.’”
