We’re counting down the days to C2C: Country to Country Festival 2022, which is finally returning to London, Glasgow and Dublin after a three year hiatus due to COVID-19.

Making her long awaited return to the UK is of course, headliner Miranda Lambert. Back in 2016, Miranda took to the stage. Baylen Leonard sat down with Miranda to talk about her upcoming performance at C2C.

"I loved C2C the last time I played it and it has been a long time. This time was still shaky, we were back and forth so I’m glad this is happening." Miranda said. UK fans have been chomping at the bit for Miranda to come back and play a show.

Miranda's released three albums since she last played here so it’s going to be a totally different show. But are there songs she absolutely has to play, regardless of where she is in her career?

"There’s a lot of those, that’s a good place to be. That you have your staples people want you to play. As a fan when I go to shows, I want them to play a couple new ones but the one’s I know."

"We’re going to do two new songs off my new record. It's the first time we’ve ever learned them. I’ve done the other songs for so many years now and having new material keeps it interesting for us. It’ll be the first time I play any of it live."

Miranda has released the song "If I Was A Cowboy" from her next project, the follow-up to the Texas native's 2021 release, The Marfa Tapes, with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram.

Miranda added that playing in the UK is so refreshing. "I’m never worried about making a set list to play in the UK because I feel like I have so much freedom. You accept everything we’re giving you. It’s more about the musical journey than the hits you hear on the radio. I get to throw in something I love that I never get to play."

"I watched my best friend Ashley Monroe's show last time we were at C2C. People knew every word to all the deep cuts on her record. It made me cry. It was a good reminder that all of our songs don’t get lost in the abyss. There are some like my babies that I never get to play live."

The last time Miranda met Baylen, she was responsible for quite a few hangovers. Not just because of her song "Tequila Does" but because when the pair met backstage, she was drinking a very refreshing, fruity-looking cocktail called a Lambertini (vodka, mango juice, and diet sprite).

"I have graduated now." Miranda laughed, recalling the memory. "I also have one called a Randarita that has many lives and morphs, the older I get I'm like I guess I should drink a little more responsibly. Not less, just a little more healthy. Bubbly water and Tito’s vodka. That’s my new jam. It’s super sophisticated."

Miranda Lambert is sure to bring the party to C2C, and we can't wait!
