Sarah Champion
Festival queen and lover of the 80s.
About Sarah Champion
You can hear Sarah Champion across almost all of the Absolute Radio stations, having been at One Golden Square for over 12 years. She's also the host of our festival coverage, never more at home than in a pair of muddy boots in the middle of a field.
Sarah has interviewed everyone from Tom Jones (legend) to Debbie Harry (icon) to Liam Gallagher (so much swagger). Highlights of her time backstage include marveling at just how tall Mick Fleetwood is and enjoying the scent of a freshly massaged Brandon Flowers. She's also danced on stage in front of 60,000 people with the band James but is the first to admit she was outdone by Tim Booth.
Sarah started out as a journalist and newsreader. When she's not behind the mic you might find her on your telly. As an actress she's appeared in everything from Casualty to Jonathan Creek and Silent Witness. She's also worked as a host for Vh1, Sky Arts and The CW in Los Angeles. Her defeat to Tony Hadley's 'Red Tomato' on Ready Steady Cook still smarts to this day (her Dad panicked and pressed the wrong voting button meaning her 'Green Pepper' lost by one point).
She has two dogs called Buckley and Lola: Buckley named after the late great Jeff and Lola after The Kinks song... because she's got a beard.
