It wasn't long ago that The Royal Mint released a Winnie the Pooh 50p. Revealing the first design with Winnie sitting on the ground eating honey with his paws, the limited edition commemorative coin is available in a range of finishes including brilliant uncirculated, Silver and Gold, which can be printed in colour.

Now, The Royal Mint has revealed the next in the series features Christopher Robin. The new 50p went on sale today (22nd October) at 9am, and has been released to commemorate the 100th year anniversary of the birth of the real Christopher Robin, who was the son of author AA Milne.

On the new coin, Christopher Robin can be seen coming down the stairs with his bear in hand. The design has been illustrated in the same innovative watercolour technique The Royal Mint developed for the first coin in the collection.

Daniel Thorne, who designed the coin with Disney spoke about the iconic character saying, "Taking an original illustration from a full page of a storybook and condensing it down to the perimeter of a 50p, yet not taking away the essence of the story is a difficult feat, but working with the original illustrations has been an amazing opportunity to bring those stories to life in a brand new way.

"The popularity of our childhood character coins is no surprise, they allow us a great opportunity to introduce a sense of nostalgia coupled with a splash of colour to make these coins real collector’s items."

The latest design in the Winnie the Pooh series featuring Christopher Robin is now available to buy from The Royal Mint website.
