Brand new ITV crime drama Trigger Point, written by the mastermind behind Line Of Duty, Jed Mercurio, finally hit screens on Sunday (23rd January) night, with Vicky McClure taking on the role of an experience bomb disposal operative.
The series focuses on counter terrorism policing, spotlighting on the extraordinary work conducted by the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad.
Just before the series started, Vicky took to Twitter to say: ‘Well that was a busy & fun week! Strap yaselfs in for a bumpy ride over the next 6 weeks! I’m beyond proud of the work everyone put into the show and can’t wait to see everyone’s efforts played out Sunday nights 9pm @ITVstarting TONIGHT! ‘

Not to give away too many spoilers, but the first episode went off with a literal bang when Lana Washington (played by Vicky) and Joel Nutkins (played by Adrian Lester) were called out to investigate a potential bomb factory in a London housing estate.
However, the most explosive moment came when the credits were just about to roll, when a devastating bomb exploded and caused utter carnage. The moment came as such a surprise that even Vicky took to Twitter to react, saying: ‘How we doing?! (Even I jumped!!) #TriggerPoint.’
Many viewers couldn’t deal with the explosive ending, with many admitting that they don’t know how they will cope with five more episodes to go.
One viewer tweeted: ‘Jumped out my skin and swore, loved it #TriggerPoint’, while another said: ‘Out my skin!!! Cracking stuff. Can’t wait till next week's (sic)’.
One more commented: ‘I knew that was gonna happen and it still made me jump off the bleedin’ sofa then! #TriggerPoint.'
The series will ramp up over the next five weeks, with Jed Mercurio explaining: "Everyone at HTM Television is honoured Vicky McClure will star in Trigger Point, Daniel Brierley's breathless thriller that will have viewers on the edge of their seats. We're immensely grateful to Polly Hill and ITV for giving this opportunity to a brand-new writer."
