They've been involved with popular daytime show This Morning for a massive 14 years, but reports were rife at the weekend that married couple Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have been axed from their weekly hosting slot.

The pair, who present the show on Friday mornings in Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield's absence, have reportedly been axed from the show to make way for a shake-up of presenters.

According to the Daily Mirror, former X Factor host Dermot O'Leary and former Big Brother star Alison Hammond have been drafted in to replace Ruth and Eamonn on Friday mornings.

An insider told the publication, "They have real warmth. It's time for a change and they are perfect.

“Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made.”

Of course, if you are regular viewer of This Morning, you'll be aware that both Alison and Dermot have hosted the show together before, resulting in huge praise from viewers.

Alison has also been a big part of the show for a number of years, with her iconic interviews, hilarious top tips, and of course, THAT moment she knocked a sailor into the water on This Morning's floating weather map.

The 45-year-old was even given her own special show last month, where she was the guest editor on Friday 23rd October.

This Morning bosses have previously been criticised for not being diverse enough, which led to ITV Chief Executive Carolyn McCall introducing a brand new Diversity Acceleration Plan.

The new changes are due to arrive in the New Year.
