Research reveals Stranger Things is NOT Netflix's most popular show 😮
Stranger Things 5 is in the works

When it comes to the streaming giants such as Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ we all think we know what the most popular shows are, but it seems that some might be disappointed if they thought Stranger Things had the top spot.
Despite Stranger Things knocking Netflix's other big hit Bridgerton off the top spot, when it was released back in May, it seems that wasn't enough to make it the 'most-searched for' title on Google.
According to SimpleGhar, who have done some number crunching, the Korean phenomenon Squid Game was the most-searched title in 126 countries around the world.
It also racked up a massive 1.65 billion hours of streaming in its first 28 days, meaning it was Netflix's highest ranking show of all time. There's no surprise then that it's already got the green light for another series.
Other Netflix titles Elite and Bridgerton, both topped search results in three countries, while Stranger Things topped the results in just one country - Brazil, although the data was from before Volume 2 of Stranger Things was released.
Elsewhere with the streaming giants, SimpleGhar have found that CODA was Apple+'s most popular film on the platform, topping search data in 71 countries, with Ted Lasso the most popular series.
Meanwhile, in terms of films, Marvel’s Black Widow ruled the roost on Disney+, while Loki was their most popular series. And for Prime Video it was Cinderella which took the top spot, while The Boys was their most searched series. The Tomorrow War was also the most searched-for film in 61 countries.
You can sign up for Disney+ for only £7.99 per month. 18+. Subscription required. Ts & Cs Apply.
