Britain's Got Talent live shows postponed amid Coronavirus
But the auditions will still be broadcast!
Last updated 2nd Sep 2020
The brand new series of Britain's Got Talent with lovable duo Ant and Dec is due to return to ITV in the coming weeks, but it looks like we are going to have to wait a while longer for the live shows.
After Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement last night (Monday 23rd March), ITV have revealed the 2020 Britain's Got Talent live shows have been postponed until later in the year.
An ITV spokesperson said, "The Britain's Got Talent audition shows will broadcast on ITV in the next few weeks.
"We have been working with the brilliant production teams at Thames and Syco to find a way of making the live finals work, which were due to be broadcast at the end of May. However, in light of the latest government health guidelines and in line with our priority of safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved in our programmes, production of the live shows cannot go ahead as planned. The live finals will therefore be broadcast later in the year."
As the 2020 auditions were filmed earlier this year, viewers will still get to see the show air on ITV in the coming weeks.
Of course, at this moment in time, it is impossible to tell when the Britain's Got Talent live shows will take place, with Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams on the judging panel.
Britain's Got Talent joins a long list of other TV shows which have been postponed due to the Coronvirus. As well as Lorraine and Loose Women being taken off air, production for shows like Line of Duty and Casualty have stopped, as well as Emmerdale, EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street all suspending filming.
