10p, 50p and £2 coins amongst the most sought-after coins
They could be worth a lot more than their face value
Every few months the Change Checker website updates their Scarcity Index with the most sought-after coins around. And the latest results have revealed how the Coronavirus Pandemic might have affected the coins that are worth more than their face value.
The current Coronavirus Pandemic has meant that fewer people are using coins, instead preferring to use other methods of payment, such as contactless, so according to Change Checker, 'It has exposed some new trends on the indexes'.
The website has revealed, it's the 'T' 10p piece that is topping the Scarcity Index, meanwhile, the Yeoman Warder isn't far behind in second.
These special 10p coins were launched by The Royal Mint in March 2018, featuring designs such as the highly sought-after cup of tea, fish and chips, cricket, and the Loch Ness monster. There are 26 designs to map out the A-Z of what makes Britain great – from the Angel of the North to a Zebra Crossing.

Other coins that you should keep a look out for are, the Kew Gardens 50p coin, which remains the most sought-after 50p, one of which sold for more than £100 earlier this year. Meanwhile it's the Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland £2 coin that you should also search out.
According to a recent search on eBay this design is currently selling for around £50, so it might be time to check your pockets!
