Emmerdale confirm air date for Ryan Hawley's last episode as Robert Sugden
He confirmed he was leaving this summer
Emmerdale fans were left absolutely bereft in June when actor Ryan Hawley announced that he was leaving the soap. The 34-year-old, who joined the show as Robert Sugden in 2014, was the fourth actor to take on the role after Karl Davies left in 2009.
Since then, his exit storyline has slowly unfolded, following the horrific rape of his sister Victoria by Lee Posner, leading to Robert attacking him in a rage which led to Lee dying in hospital.
Unfortunately, Robert is paying the price for his actions, and is currently in prison with a life sentence. With their marriage already strained, things will get even worse for Robert in tonight's episode (1st Nov), when he's transferred to a prison in the Isle of Wight.
This means that tonight's episode will be Ryan Hawley's final performance as Robert Sugden. He's unable to tell husband Aaron Dingle when he comes to visit him, and puts a moratorium on receiving any visitors - drawing the curtain on Ryan's time on Emmerdale.

Producer Kate Brooks recently revealed that things will go from bad to worse for Aaron, who doesn't cope very well with Robert's departure. She said, "Robert leaving is going to hit him hard. He is the love of Aaron's life whom he adored, and has kept Aaron anchored and on the straight and narrow.
"So when the rug is pulled from underneath his feet, it really affects Aaron and it makes him behave in ways that he wouldn't normally. I think we're going to see the Aaron of old, before Robert came along and straightened him out."
