With her eight albums giving us huge hits like 'Party In The U.S.A.', 'Wrecking Ball', 'Midnight Sky' and 'Flowers', Miley's success dates back to when she was just 11-years-old - leading to her becoming the youngest person in history to be honoured as a Disney Legend.

How old is Miley Cyrus?

Miley Cyrus is now 32-years-old, born on 23rd November 1992.

The singer celebrated her 30th birthday in November 2022, taking to her Instagram to thank everyone for their birthday wishes. Sharing a gorgeous snap, Miley wrote: '30. Thankful for all the love and kind birthday wishes. 💕'

Where is she from?

Miley was born in Franklin, Tennessee, in the United States. While her family lived in Thompson's Station, Tennessee, Miley attended Heritage Elementary School in Williamson County. It wasn’t until a young Miley was cast in Disney’s Hannah Montana that the family moved to Los Angeles.

The 32-year-old currently resides in the Hidden Hills, California. Proud of her Nashville roots, the ‘We Can’t Stop’ singer also now owns an alleged $5.8 million home in her hometown of Franklin, Tennessee.

How tall is she?

Miley stands at approximately 5ft 4 and a half… Well, she was in 2010, anyway, saying: “I'm 5ft 4in from Tennessee”. The extra half came about in 2017 when she said: “I say that I'm five-five and a half, but I'm really like five-four and a half”.

Miley stands at a similar height to celebs such as Olivia Rodrigo, Jennifer Aniston, Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lopez.

How did Miley Cyrus become famous?

Do you even need to ask?! Miley began her journey to stardom when she made her debut on Disney’s smash-hit show Hannah Montana, where she played the iconic Miley Stewart who lived a double life as a popstar. In a pretty handy turn of events, Miley’s famous father also featured on the show as her on-screen dad… You know, ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ and ‘Old Town Road’ icon Billy Ray Cyrus?

After auditioning for the show when she was just 11-years-old, Miley made her big debut as pop singer Hannah Montana when she was 13. Dubbed one of Disney’s most successful TV shows of all time, the show catapulted Miley to stardom, even releasing five Hannah Montana soundtrack albums.

From 2007-2008, Miley embarked on the ‘Best of Both Worlds Tour’, which saw her perform songs from the double-disc album ‘Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus’. Here, the world began to get a taste of what she was really made of as she performed some of her own tracks from her debut album as Miley Cyrus.

Before Hannah Montana officially ended in 2011, Miley had released three of her own albums - ‘Meet Miley Cyrus’ (2007), ‘Breakout’ (2008) and ‘Can't Be Tamed’ (2010).

Miley Cyrus becomes a Disney Legend

In August 2024, Miley became the youngest person in history to be honoured as a Disney Legend. Disney Legends is The Walt Disney Company's Hall of Fame, awarding individuals who have 'made a significant impact on the Disney legacy'.

Miley was part of 14 stars recognised as Disney Legends at the event, including the likes of Harrison Ford and Jamie Lee Curtis. In her emotional speech, Miley credited Hannah Montana, gushing that she was proud to play the character, who made her life magical.

Sharing a clip of her heart-warming speech to Instagram, as the singer and actress became the youngest ever Disney Legend, Miley wrote: 'Thank you. Such an honor to be inducted as a Disney Legend. This award is dedicated to Hannah Montana and all of her fans. You’ve shown me legendary love & loyalty. Forever grateful.' (sic)

Miley's Disney Legend speech

Accepting the honorary place in the Hall of Fame, becoming an official Disney Legend, Miley began her speech: "Before I get started, I’m gonna let everybody in a little Disney Legend secret. I’m the one that tells you what you’re not supposed to know. And what I want to say is that legends get scared, too. I’m scared right now, but the difference is we do it anyway, and all of you can do that every single day. It’s legendary to be afraid and do it anyway. There is no such thing as failure when you try. That’s the only way you lose (by not trying). The way you win is to try."

She then continued: "So here I am. I’ll show you; I made two speeches: one long if I’m the badass that I’m supposed to be, and one short if I get scared. So I want to say thank you. It’s such an honor to receive this award. My other legends have said it best: It is all because of you, everyone in this room, outside of this room. It’s all about the fans."

Miley then detailed the process of landing the role of Hannah Montana, revealing she didn't get the role at first due to her age and height. She said: "I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, where I sent my audition tape from. After those tapes were sent in, my mom got a message that what I said was great, but I was just too small, and I was too young for the part. A year or more goes by, and I forget all about Hannah Montana. But then we get a call, and they tell us that they fully casted the show, they’ve already shot a pilot, but the show just isn’t working. So they want me to come out to L.A. and audition in person. My mom tells me the news but reiterates that if I get it, I’m going to have to leave school and all of my friends.

So we go to the mall to shop for what I’d wear to the audition and in true fashion of fate, there hangs a T-shirt that says, ‘I should have my own TV show.’ So we took it home, bedazzled it, and flew out to L.A. After a few of those auditioning trips, I got the part. "

"I came out to California to shoot the pilot, I fell in love with L.A.: the beach, the palm trees, they were awesome. But it was the sound stage that I lived for. I mean it was the most beautiful place that I’d ever seen. There were lights, dressing rooms, the wardrobe racks, there were costume fittings, wig fittings, acting, dance, vocal lessons. It was like being on RuPaul’s Drag Race Junior. We shot the pilot, we went back to Nashville to wait, but I had gotten a taste of what my life could be like, and from that moment on, I did not want anything else.

So when I was told the show had gotten picked up, I just couldn’t wait to get back to stage nine. But because Hannah Montana is a pop star, we needed footage of her playing sold out concerts, but no one knew who she, a.k.a. Miley, was.

"So they gave away tickets at the Glendale mall where I would have my first free concert. And the first song I opened with was titled, 'This Is the Life'. Which of course no one knew because in reality, I was a little girl in a blonde wig at the mall with a big dream, but in my heart, I was Hannah Montana. And I was so proud to be."

Tearing up, Miley rounded off the emotional speech by adding: "A little bit of everything has changed since that day. But at the same time, nothing has changed at all. I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana because she made Miley in so many ways. This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality. To quote the legend herself: 'This is the life'."

Miley's new music

Miley's latest music release came in March 2024, when she delighted fans by dropping a collaboration with Pharrell Williams called 'Doctor (Work It Out)'. The song is believed to have originally been an off-cut from Miley's 2013 album 'Bangerz'.

Prior to that, in October 2023, she gifted us with a new version of her hit 'Wrecking Ball' with her godmother Dolly Parton. The song features on Dolly's album 'Rockstar', and the new version has a rocky feel to it.

Miley's comeback album 'Endless Summer Vacation'

As 2023 rolled around, the New Year wasn't the only thing we were all celebrating - yes, we also got the news that there was new Miley music incoming! Taking to Instagram, the sensation teased a clip of her track 'Flowers'.

The track was then released on 13th January 2023, along with a stunning music video. Ahead of the release, Miley teased we could expect something quite different from the star, with her captioning the teaser: 'NEW YEAR, NEW MILEY, NEW SINGLE. FLOWERS JANUARY 13.' (sic)

But the excitement didn't stop there! Miley answered all of our prayers just days after announcing the new track, revealing that she had a brand new album coming too. Titled 'Endless Summer Vacation', the work is her eighth album.

Miley shared a synth wave clip from her album on Instagram, giving us all a taste of what to expect. Now that it's arrived we love it!

Miley has now released a number of songs from her album including 'Jaded', and 'Used To Be Young'.

'Flowers' won the awards for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The song also won the International Song of the Year award at the 2024 BRIT Awards.

Why did Miley send flowers to some fans?

In August 2023, Miley sent some flowers to a super fan who invited Miley to her wedding. The fan said that both her and her fiancé have been big Miley fans since her Hannah Montana days.

With the flowers was a message which read: 'You can buy yourself flowers, but it's my pleasure to send them to you as a congratulations on the wedding. I love you both!'

Miley's TikTok series

Following the release of her song 'Used To Be Young', Miley released a series of videos on TikTok where she looked back at her childhood, all the way up to the present day.

In one video she got emotional as she opened up about her dad and how they are different when it comes to their response to fame.

Is Miley Cyrus going on tour?

Miley has announced she won't be doing a headline tour as she doesn't enjoy it. "Singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love," she told British Vogue.

Miley explained why she doesn't like to do huge tours. "It’s been a minute," she said of her years away from music. "After the last (headline arena) show I did, I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t.

"Not only 'can’t', because can't is your capability, but my desire," Miley explained. "Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfilment other than my own?"

What is the fan theory about 'Flowers' and a Bruno Mars song?

Not only do fans think 'Flowers' is about Liam Hemsworth, they also have this theory that the song was written in response to Bruno Mars' song 'When I Was Your Man'. Fans have been comparing the two songs' lyrics and it does look pretty convincing! Not only that, but Liam apparently dedicated Bruno's song to Miley while the pair were together.

To Bruno's lyrics: '...I should have bought you flowers', Miley appears to respond: 'I can buy myself flowers.'

It continues with Bruno's lyrics: 'And held your hand,' with Miley responding: 'I can hold my own hand.'

Soon after the song's release, a fan edited to the two songs' music videos together and shared it on Twitter. However the video has now been removed.

And that's not all, fans are convinced there are plenty of Easter eggs within the music video that relate to Miley and Liam's relationship. Check them out here.

Is she married?

Miley is not married, despite being married in the past to actor Liam Hemsworth. The pair met on the set of the iconic film The Last Song back in 2009, the birth place of the melodic 'When I Look At You'. After a some-what rocky next few years, they married in 2018.

Sadly, the pair split in 2019. Shortly after fans’ suspicions were raised due to the singer posting a photo not wearing her wedding ring, Miley’s team released a statement saying: ‘Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time’, continuing: ‘They have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.’

Shortly after the split, Miley released her heartfelt track ‘Slide Away’, which fans believed detailed her break-up with the actor. The lyrics read: ‘Once upon a time, it was paradise / Once upon a time, I was paralyzed / Think I'm gonna miss these harbor lights / But it's time to let it go / Once upon a time, it was made for us / Woke up one day, it had turned to dust / Baby, we were found, but now we're lost / So it's time to let it go’

They continue: ‘Move on, we're not 17 / I'm not who I used to be / You say that everything changed / You're right, we're grown now’.

WATCH - Miley Cyrus 'Slide Away' official music video

As super-fans may have noticed, Miley also released her track 'Flowers' on Liam's 33rd birthday (13th January 2023). The song alludes to a failed relationship, with Miley singing about watching her marriage, and the Malibu home they once shared, 'burn' to the ground.

She sings: 'We were right, 'til we weren't, built a home and watched it burn,'

After her divorce from Liam, Miley reportedly began dating Brody Jenner's ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter. Romance rumours flourished when the pair were pictured kissing whilst holidaying at Lake Como in Italy, however the relationship didn't last much longer.

Miley then dated her longtime friend and fellow musician Cody Simpson. The pair reportedly spent lockdown with one another, with Cody moving into Miley's home during the pandemic. Cody even wrote her a song called 'Golden Thing', which he performed on her talk show. Sadly, they split in August 2020.

She is now dating musician Maxx Morando, with the pair first spotted hanging out together towards the end of 2021. Miley gave fans a rare insight into her relationship in an interview with British Vogue, revealing that she met Maxx on a blind date!

Does Miley have siblings?

Before the singer’s parents married, they both had children with previous partners - Billy Ray’s son Christopher Cody Cyrus, and Trish’s daughter Brandi and son Trace (who have since been officially adopted by Billy Ray). The pair then went on to have three children of their own - Destiny Hope, who we now know as Miley, Braison and Noah Cyrus.

We think it’s pretty safe to say that talent runs in the family Brandi is a DJ and podcast host and Trace, Briason and Noah are all singers.

If you find yourself recognising Trace Cyrus, let us jog your memory a little… Do the lyrics ‘Shake shake, shake shake, a-shake it’ ring any bells? Trace’s band Metro Station released their catchy track, aptly named ‘Shake It’, back in 2008, and after peaking at the Number 6 spot on the UK Charts, it’s safe to say it’s been stuck in our heads ever since.

Noah Cyrus has been releasing singles since 2010, and has even collaborated on various tracks with her big sis Miley. Noah also appeared in an episode of Hannah Montana, back in the day.

Who are her parents?

Miley’s dad is American singer-songwriter and actor Billy Ray Cyrus. With 16 studio albums and 53 singles under his belt, Billy Ray is famed for his hit single ‘Achy Breaky Heart’, which was released in March 1992.

Billy Ray shot back into the limelight when he starred alongside Miley in Disney’s Hannah Montana, appearing as her on-screen father Robby Ray Stewart. And, of course, who can forget Billy Ray’s ICONIC appearance on Lil Nas X’s 2019 hit ‘Old Town Road’.

Billy's wife, and Miley's mum, is Tish Cyrus, who is an American actress and producer. Tish has produced ICONIC Miley Cyrus films such as The Last Song, LOL and So Undercover, and is also one of Miley's managers.

Is Miley related to Dolly Parton?

Dolly Parton is Miley’s godmother! Billy Ray and Dolly grew close when they worked together in the early 1990s.

In what seems like a family trend, Dolly also appeared in an episode of Hannah Montana. Dolly played the role of Aunt Dolly, Hannah’s godmother.

Miley's New Year's Eve show

Bringing the New Year in with a bang, Miley hosted her second New Year’s Eve Party on NBC in 2022. Of course, Miley hosted the ultimate party in the USA, with her bringing an array of superstar guests - including none other than Aunt Dolly!

As well as singing a plethora of her huge hits, Miley and Dolly sang a medley of 'Wrecking Ball' followed by Dolly's 'I Will Always Love You.' Not only that, but fans were extremely excited to see an appearance from Paris Hilton as she and Miley sang Paris' 2006 banger 'Stars Are Blind'.

Was Miley Cyrus in High School Musical?

Yes, Miley Cyrus was in fact in High School Musical 2! Despite her work as Hannah Montana making her a Disney icon in her own right, the ‘Malibu’ singer took on a brand new role for her HSM appearance - ‘Girl at pool’.

Miley appears in the High School Musical for a grand total of (approximately) one-second, after being voted in by fans. Speaking about her appearance, Miley said: “On disneychannel.com there was a contest for what Disney Channel star they want to see on High School Musical 2, so they voted me.”

We think she nailed the role perfectly.

Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers

We can't discuss Miley's Disney past without touching upon the world-renowned Jo-Bro's. In typical Disney show crossover-style, Joe, Kevin and Nick Jonas appeared in an episode of Hannah Montana. This, of course, gifted us all with the collaboration track 'We Got The Party'.

Miley also maintained an off-screen friendship with the boys, with rumours even beginning to circulate back in 2006 that Miley and Nick were dating. Sadly, the pair reportedly broke up in 2008 - not that we're mad about it, as the break-up led to Miley releasing her iconic track '7 things'.

Rumours were rife back in '08 that the track was in fact about Nick - a rumour which seemed to be some what confirmed by the man himself in a 2018 interview!

Black Mirror

Miley appeared on the popular science fiction/futuristic technology series Black Mirror in 2019. Appearing in Netflix’s fifth series of the show, she played a pop star named Ashley O.

A dark reality is realised when two girls investigate their Ashley O robot doll, which is based off of the pop star’s own personality.

Is Miley Cyrus her real name?

Simply put, no. Miley Cyrus, as we now know her, was not actually born with that name. When she was born on 23rd November 1992, her parents Billy Ray and Tish named her Destiny Hope Cyrus.

As the story goes, their bundle of joy was always flashing a big smile, leading them to nicknaming her ‘Smiley’. This soon turned into ‘Miley’, with the singer legally changing her name to Miley Ray in 2008.

Miley Cyrus Glastonbury

Of course, we are going to HAVE to talk about Miley's iconic performance at Glastonbury 2019. Rocking wet-look hair, leather trousers and plenty of gold chains, Miley performed tracks including her collab with Mark Ronson 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart' and her hit single 'Mother's Daughter'.

Miley then stole the show as she performed covers like Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black', Led Zeppelin 'Black Dog' and Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters'.

Miley Cyrus collaborations

As a solo artist, Miley is responsible for plenty of HUGE hits, such as 'Party In The U.S.A.', 'Fly On The Wall', 'We Can't Stop', 'Wrecking Ball' and 'Malibu'... And with such success, it's no surprise that she has teamed up with her fellow music megastars to bring us a whole plethora of collaborative smash hit tracks.

Miley's list of collaborations stretches long and far, including huge names such as Mark Ronson, with their track 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart', Ariana Grande and Lana Del Ray, with their bop 'Don't Call Me Angel' and Dua Lipa, with their song 'Prisoner'.

In 2021 she collaborated with Lil Nas X, following in the footsteps of her father. She appeared oh his song 'Am I Dreaming?', the closing track of his critically acclaimed album 'Montero'.

In March 2024, Miley teamed up with the incredible Pharrell Williams on the huge track 'Doctor (Work It Out)'. Back in 2014, Miley featured on Pharrell's track 'Come Get It Bae', with Pharrell having also previously produced tracks for Miley's album 'Bangerz.'
