McFly announce brand new single 'Happiness' and details on upcoming album π
Obviously, this is the best news we've heard all week π
Last updated 27th Jul 2020
After the incredible news of McFly's reunion and new record deal earlier this month, the boys - Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter - have now announced details about their upcoming album AND a new single!
Taking to Facebook, McFly confirmed that their first single will be called 'Happiness', and will be released on Thursday 30th July - on which date fans will also be able to pre-order their new album, 'Young Dumb Thrills'!
Fans were, of course, over the moon about the new details, taking to the comments to express their joy. One wrote, 'Iβm so pleased to hear this guys πΎ looking forward to hearing some new music πΆ from you π,' and another added, 'This was necessary!! At least 2020 it's going to have something good!! Can't wait to hear the new music!'
Whether you're a fan or not, you'll have no doubt found yourself singing along to one of McFly's songs at some point over the last 16 years! Since their debut album 'Room On The Third Floor' was released in 2004, McFly have delighted fans with hit after hit.
After the release of their fifth album 'Above The Noise' in 2010, they created supergroup McBusted with James Bourne and Matt Willis for a tour - and after they parted ways in 2015, fans have been desperate for new music from the four-piece.
Over the last five years, the lads have kept the McFly dream alive, especially with their 'Lost Songs' releases late last year - but on 2nd July 2020, they announced that they've now signed to record label BMG and will be releasing new music VERY soon!
Announcing the news on Twitter, Tom wrote, 'We have some big @mcflymusic news! We have signed a new record deal with @BMGuk and new music is on the way,' with bandmate Harry adding, 'Hell yeah π€πΌπ€πΌπ€πΌ,' and Danny writing on Instagram, 'OH YEAHHHHH! @bmguk ππ» if youβre excited?' as Dougie joked, 'Felt cute, might get dropped later Thanks @bmguk.'
Fans couldn't believe their luck, and took to the social media sites to share their joy at the news. One wrote, 'WE NEED THIS', as another joked that they'd 'saved 2020' by announcing new music was on the way.
Speaking to BBC News, Tom said, "There was a strong possibility McFly would never happen again. We genuinely didnβt know how to get back on track," as Harry added, "Although we never thought they would, things got a bit weird between us.
"We tried to talk it out a couple of times over those years and it just was very unproductive. So, yeah, there were moments where we talked about, 'Do we need to get in a room with a therapist and document this?'"
They explained that their manager had booked last year's O2 gig without telling them, and they realised their disagreements weren't worth it, getting in a studio together to release new music - the first song of which is apparently set to drop later this month.
We can't wait!
