Netflix set to make new Matilda film based on the hit musical

It's based on the 1996 film

It came out back in 1996, but Matilda is one of the most classic movies around! No matter what age you are, the movie, which stars the likes of Danny DeVito, Mara Wilson, Embeth Davidtz and Rhea Perlman, is still just as good to this day!

So, when we heard the new that streaming service Netflix are considering producing a 'Matilda Musical' based on the 1996 classic, we were over the moon.

The Hollywood Reporter is suggesting a movie adaptation of the popular Matilda stage show will be produced for UK cinemas, as well as landing on Netflix. The new adaptation is reportedly going to be directed by British director Matthew Warchus, with castings open now for children between the ages of 9 and 11.

Of course, the famous story of Matilda all started a a book by British novelist Roald Dahl, before being adapted into a movie in 1996.

Based on a graphic novel, Locke & Key is a new miniseries from Netflix. After the Dad is murdered, the three Locke siblings and their Mum move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse. Once in the house they discover it is full of magical keys that might be connected to their Dad's death.

Sex Education Season 2

Sex Education is about Otis Milburn, a socially awkward high school student who lives with his sex therapist mother, Jean. In season 1 Otis and his friend Maeve Wiley set-up a sex clinic at school to capitalise on his intuitive talent for sex advice.


In season 2, as a late bloomer Otis must master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to progress with his girlfriend Ola whilst also dealing with his now strained relationship with Maeve. Meanwhile, Moordale Secondary is in the throes of a Chlamydia outbreak, highlighting the need for better sex education at the school and new kids come to town who will challenge the status quo.

Despite the news of the new Netflix adaptation, there's been no word about when it will arrive, or who will appear in the movie.
