Jesy Nelson reacts as Little Mix make history at The BRIT Awards

She left the band in 2020

She may have left at the end of 2020, but after nearly 10 years in the band it's clear to see that Little Mix still has a special place in Jesy Nelson's heart! After her bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards attended The BRIT Awards last night (Tuesday 11th May), the girls made history becoming the first ever girl band to win the British Group award.

Although Jesy wasn't in attendance, Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie did mention her in their powerful speech, with Jesy taking to her Instagram Story to react to the news.

Sharing a photo of her former bandmates looking over the moon with their latest BRIT Award, Jesy captioned the shot with five red love hearts and three clapping emojis.

Leigh-Anne and Perrie, who both recently announced their pregnancies, glowed on the red carpet alongside a very proud looking Jade earlier in the night, before taking to the stage with an emotional speech after making BRITs history.

Reading off Leigh-Anne's phone, the girls said: "OMG guys, we have just made history! In the hopes that we would win, we've wrote a little speech. Two of us have baby brain so we had to write it down. We have been together for ten years, it's been the best years of our lives, we have gone through so much, had so much fun, made so many beautiful memories. We want to start by thanking our incredible fans, of course Jesy and our incredible team."

Jade continued: "It's not easy being a female in the UK pop industry. We've seen the white male dominance, misogyny, sexism and lack of diversity. We're proud of how we've stuck together, stood our ground, surrounded ourselves with strong women and now using our voices more than ever.

"The fact that a girlband has never won this award speaks volumes, this award isn't just for us, it's for the Spice Girls, Sugababes, All Saints, Girls Aloud, and all of the incredible female bands this is for you!"

She told fans: 'I nearly just cried at the song we've wrote today, wosizjxkakamzossl that's how excited I am for you guys to hear this'. (sic)
