ITV officially announce I'm A Celeb spin-off The Wild Frontier

With 2027 marking a huge 25 years of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, ITV/STV bosses are making big plans to celebrate, including a new spin-off series called The Wild Frontier.

Set to be filmed in the coming weeks for a 2027 release, I'm A Celeb The Wild Frontier will be filmed in Canada, with bosses scoping out an appropriate location.

Speaking about the new series, host Ant said in a new video: “This brand new series is I’m A Celebrity… like you’ve never seen before. It’s a brand new format with lots of twists and surprises.”

Dec added: “We’re also making sure to retain some of the elements that we know viewers love from the Australian series. Buckle up, it’s going to be brilliant.”

Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment, Reality & Daytime ITV said: “I’m A Celebrity…The Wild Frontier is a brand new series from the award-winning I’m A Celebrity… team. The format takes duos to the most spectacular locations in Canada. The duos enter as a pair, play as a pair and leave as a pair. With all the brilliant DNA of I’m A Celebrity…, brand new gameplay and the dynamics of living and playing with your spouse, best mate or sibling, it promises to be a treat for audiences in 2027.”

I’m A Celebrity…The Wild Frontier is a brand new show from the world of I’m A Celebrity and it promises to be dramatic, exciting and truly embrace its spectacular Canadian setting.”

What will happen on the new series?

Bosses say: 'Set in the untamed wilderness of Canada, the series will feature celebrities competing as pairs alongside relatives, loved ones or even fellow celebrities. So for example it could be two celebrities together, a celebrity and a family member, or a celebrity and their best friend.

'The pairs will eat, compete and be eliminated together as one.

'Viewers will see the pairings undertake gruelling trials in the beautiful and unknown Canadian landscape and take on action-packed challenges to win food, all aiming to become the last pair standing.

'After weeks of shocks and survival in the Canadian wilderness, viewers will have the power to decide which duo is crowned the overall winners. Viewers will be able to have their say and cast the final vote in a live grand final broadcast direct from London'.

When is it on TV?

There's no exact air date just yet, but ITV/STV has now said it will arrive sometime in 2027, as the main show celebrates its 25th anniversary.

What channel is it on?

I'm A Celeb: The Wild Frontier will air on ITV1, STV, STV Player and ITVX.

When is filming?

According to reports, filming is due to begin in September 2026.

Where is filming?

Although no exact locations have been announced, the show is set to be filmed out in Canada, with the live final taking place in London.

Who is taking part?

Unlike the main series of I'm A Celeb and spin-off show South Africa, The Wild Frontier will see a line-up of celeb pairs!

The Sun reported the full line-up in August, claiming Venezuela Fury and Noah Price, Christopher Dean and Karen Barber, Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy, Louise Redknapp and Joe Nurding, Rio and Kate Ferdinand, and Paul Olima and Jeremy Lynch will all take part.

Will the normal series of I'm A Celeb still be on?

Yes, don't panic! This new spin-off is in addition to the main I'm A Celeb, which airs in November.

What is the other spin-off show?

Of course, this won't be the first I'm A Celeb spin-off series, in 2023, bosses launched I'm A Celeb: South Africa, which featured former stars from the main show.

The spin-off then returned earlier this year, starring the likes of David Haye, Adam Thomas, Scarlett Moffatt, Sir Mo Farah, Gemma Collins and Jimmy Bullard.

In what was one of the most dramatic series to date, the live final was thrown into chaos, with David Haye later threatening to sue ITV/STV.

Reports are rife I'm A Celeb: South Africa won't become a yearly fixture to the TV schedule, meaning it won't air in 2027.

A show insider said: “The aim was never for it to be made or be on air in 2027, even though there may be an appetite for that right now. The aim was to deliver something as a special show that was on from time to time, not an annual revisit like the main I’m A Celebrity show.”
