The Celebrity Traitors final attracted a huge 15 million viewers
It's become the biggest title of 2025 across the UK so far
Last updated 1st Dec 2025
It was a series packed with drama and record-breaking viewings, so it's no surprise fans were gutted when The Celebrity Traitors came to an emotional end in November, with comedian (and TRAITOR) Alan Carr winning the prize fund!
Despite looking like Faithful, Joe Marler, had it all worked out in the penultimate episode, his fellow Faithfuls, Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga made a u-turn at the final firepit on Thursday 6th November. With the first ever celebrity edition having now come to an end, here's everything you need to know, including which famous faces took part and how the series unfolded...
How many people watched the final?
On 1st December 2025, BBC bosses revealed The Celebrity Traitors final concluded with an incredible 15 million viewers, meaning it has become the biggest title of 2025 across the UK at 7 days so far this year.
The Celebrity Traitors has seen the biggest on-demand audience of any series across the market at seven days since records began
Episode six has seen the highest 28 day figure for the series so far at 15.2m. The series to date at 28 days (episodes one to six) has averaged 14.8 million viewers per episode, with 3.1m 16-34 year olds tuning in.
When was the final?
The final took place on Thursday 5th November, with a 70-minute episode.
What did the winner get?
The winning celebrity, Alan Carr, won a cash prize of £87,500 for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK.
What happened in the final?
In the final episode, Traitor Cat Burns was banished at the final round table, before the Faithfuls were called to the firepit to make their closing arguments.
It had looked like remaining Faithfuls, Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga were joining forces to vote Traitor Alan out of the game. But in a shock twist, Nick and David turned on Joe, believing his recent behaviour to be suspicious.
After eliminating Joe, the final three went on to end the game, each throwing green powder in the fire. As the remaining Traitor, Alan then claimed the full prize pot, but he was overcome by emotion after revealing his true identity to his fellow contestants.
In scenes which tugged on heartstrings across the nation, Alan shed a few tears, telling Nick and David: "I'm so sorry. It's been tearing me apart, I'm so sorry." But his new friends rushed to console him, telling him: "You did brilliant, it's a game. Just think about the charity, it's amazing!"
When was the celebrity version announced?
Not long after the series two final back in January last year, rumours were rife that bosses were in talks for a Celebrity version of the series, with Deadline reporting that a celeb series would air in 2025.
Fast-forward to August 2024 and BBC bosses then confirmed the exciting news, revealing a nine-part celebrity series!
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC said: “The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year and the news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level. It will once again be fascinating for our audiences to see who’ll outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let the mind games begin!"
With more than 250,000 people applying for the third series of The Traitors, it's fair to say the BBC show has taken off in recent years, thanks to host Claudia Winkleman and the incredible twists and turns throughout.
Which celebs took part?
On Tuesday 13th May, 19 famous faces were unveiled for The Celebrity Traitors by the BBC, including the likes of Alan Carr, Stephen Fry and Kate Garraway.
Claudia Winkleman says: “We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.”
