The upcoming biopic of Whitney Houston's life may not have hit our screens yet but there are already talks about bringing it to the stage.

I Wanna Dance with Somebody is set to hit to hit cinemas in December and Variety have reported that Whitney's estate have more plans in the pipeline as 2023 will mark the late singer's 60th birthday.

Next year will see the release of two new Whitney albums with the Broadway adaptation and a Las Vegas show coming further down the line.

The biopic will star Naomi Ackie as Whitney Houston and will take audiences on an emotional, energetic journey through Whitney’s career and music. Kasi Lemmons is directing and Anthony McCarten is writing the screenplay.

Less is known about the stage adaptation so far, but we do know that Sonia Friedman - who produced big theatre hits including The Book of Mormon and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - is attached to the project.

It won't be the first time Whitney's music has been enjoyed as a part of a musical as The Bodyguard - the film that marked Whitney's acting debut - was turned into a jukebox musical packed with many of her greatest hits.
