Already part of shows like The Great Bake Off and Celebrity Gogglebox, popular presenter Alison Hammond has once again teamed up with Channel 4, for a brand new series called Your Song.

Created by the makers of The Piano, the show sees music take to the streets and to the hearts of communities nationwide, and bosses have now unveiled Paloma Faith and Sam Ryder as the show's mentors.

What is it about?

Featuring everyday people, contestants will step up to the stage and share their story with the world through a song they have love and connection for.

Bosses say of the show: 'Whether their track helped them through heartbreak, became their anthem of triumph, or reminds them who they are, Your Song is exactly that…. Your’s.'

Commissioning editors for Channel 4, Cimran Shah and Tim Hancock said: “This show is going to be warm, joyful and feature some absolutely knock-out singers. Whether they're 7 or 70 years old, Your Song is all about celebrating the best unknown singing talent in Britain, we can't wait to see who steps onto stage.”

Creative Director Love Productions, Kieran Smith, added: “Every song has a story and Your Song celebrates every note that is personal. This show isn’t about flashy performances or chasing fame it’s about authenticity and about songs that have real meaning to the singers. We all have that one song that has marked our memories, and these performances will be giving us a glimpse into someone’s life told through the song that shaped it.”

The Your Song stage will be travelling to sites across the UK, including London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh.

When is it on TV?

On Wednesday 29th October, Alison shared a video of herself singing 'Ride, Sally Ride' during filming for the show.

Captioning the video, Alison teased: 'Your song coming soon! @channel4 @loveproductionsdev'. (sic)

Who is hosting?

The lovely Alison Hammond will host the show. Sharing the news on social media on Friday 30th May, Alison told fans: 'Some songs are more than just music… they’re memories, milestones, and magic ✨

'I’m beyond excited to share “Your Song”, my brand new show with Channel 4 🎶 @channel4'. (sic)

Speaking about her new role, Alison said: "I love the power that music and singing your heart out has, it can literally change your mood – put a smile on your face, make you sad, make you reminisce, so I’m really excited about this new show which is about real people telling us their stories, through song….let’s hit the road!”

Who are the mentors?

On 4th September, Channel 4 bosses announced music stars Paloma Faith and Sam Ryder will act as mentors on the programme.

Paloma Faith said: “The most inspiring and wonderful thing for me in music are the personal stories of individual people. I am delighted to take part in your song so I can be closer to that inspiration.”

Sam Ryder added: "I’m so stoked to be a mentor on Your Song! The show is all about celebrating grass roots talent across the country, and hearing their stories through music, which I can’t wait to encourage and uplift. I can’t wait to get out on the road and meet everyone!"

At the moment, no air date has been announced.

What channel is it on?

The series will air on Channel 4.

How many episodes?

Your Song will be made up of 6x60 minute episodes.

How can I apply?

Unfortunately, applications are now closed.

The application website stated: 'Is there a song that means the world to you, and a story behind it you’d like to share? Do you love to sing, but feel shy at the thought of performing live?

'Or are you simply a talented singer who hasn’t yet had the opportunity to shine?

'Love Productions are looking for undiscovered singers for this brand-new series. Whether it’s pop, rock, rap, or an original song, if you’re ready to share your voice with the world, we want to hear from you!'
