LadBaby announces bid for third Christmas Number 1 🎄 🎶
Can he do it three years in a row?!
Last updated 18th Dec 2020
LadBaby has announced he'll be releasing a third Christmas charity single! Speaking to Magic Breakfast with Ronan and Harriet, LadBaby - real name Mark Hoyle - spoke out about why he'd decided to try it for a third year in a row.
"The song is 'Don't Stop Believing' by Journey. We want people to sing, dance around the living room and get involved, all the family, enjoying it and don't stop believing things are gonna get better - it's what we all kind of need this year!
"Again we're raising money for the Trussell Trust charity, which is something that's really close to our heart, it's a charity that we've raised money for the last two years as well and, you know, we spoke to them this year and, ironically, this is probably our most important year to go from number one to help them guys."
In the initial announcement, LadBaby shared a video to Instagram, and wrote, 'When LadBaby announce their new Christmas Song!! 🎄,' telling the camera that he wasn't going to attempt another Christmas Number 1... Until the pandemic hit.
He said, "I thought that we've done such an amazing job for the charity the last two years, I really didn't want to do it unless I felt we could do it justice... And then this year hit.
"The Trussell trust told me that in the first six months of the pandemic, they handed out 1.2 million food parcels - that's more than they've ever handed out in any six-month period. And so I thought, you know what, I'm going to try again, because this charity deserves the exposure, and every single person that's ever been in a food bank deserves it.
"So you know what, this is a silly song, singing about sausage rolls, but hopefully I really hope, it's going to put a smile on a lot of people's faces this Christmas."
He then followed it with an Instagram post thanking fans for their support and providing details of when the single and video would be released.
He wrote, 'Completely overwhelmed and moved by all your love and support on our announcement last night on going for another Christmas number one raising money for the UK food bank charity the @trusselltrust 👍🏻
'Can’t wait for you all to see and hear our music video this Friday! PLEASE, if you can afford it, pre-order our song and let’s help build a hunger free future for everyone! #TrussellTrust #HungerFreeFuture #DontStopMeEatin'.
