In 2025, she had a particularly busy year having appeared in four TV series, and she has already kept that momentum going into 2026. Her recent Saturday Night Live UK appearance added another big moment to her run, showing off her funny, self-deprecating side and keeping her firmly in the spotlight.

But how did the 32-year-old first break into the industry? And what else has she appeared in? We take a deep dive in Aimee Lou Wood's career so far...

She went on to bag her first TV acting role at the age of 25 in Netflix's Sex Education, which ran for for four years. She's since starred in many hit shows from White Lotus to Toxic Town, and more recently, BBC's romantic drama Film Club, which she co-wrote.

How old is she?

Let's take a look at the actress' career to date:

Sex Education - 2019-2023

In 2019, Aimee bagged her first major TV role in Netflix's Sex Education. The series, which went on to be a huge hit, then ran for four seasons. The actress played Aimee Gibbs, a bubbly and popular student, whose friendship with the edgy Maeve Wiley becomes a central part of the plot. Fans praised Aimee for the sensitive way she handled hard-hitting storylines, like her character's sexual assault.

Cabaret - 2023

From February to May 2023, Aimee Lou took to the stage, starring as Sally Bowles in the West End production of Cabaret. The following year, she picked up the WhatsOnStage award for Best Takeover Performance, after critics called her rendition "heartbreakingly earnest".

Daddy Issues - 2024-2025

In 2024, Aimee first played the role of newly-pregnant Gemma in BBC's Daddy Issues, alongside actor David Morrissey. In it, we see Gemma come to terms with the arrival of an unexpected addition to the family, while trying to mend a fractious relationship with her recently-divorced father. The show was renewed for a second season in 2025.

Toxic Town - 2025

Based on one of the UK's biggest industrial scandals, Toxic Town followed the lives of a number of families whose babies were harmed by toxic waste in Corby in the 80s and 90s. Aimee secured the role of Tracey Taylor, a real-life mother whose daughter, Shelby Anne, died at just four days old. The actress said while researching for the role that she was "in awe" of Tracey's strength and took the responsibility of depicting her very seriously.

The White Lotus - 2025

As the third season of The White Lotus arrived in 2025, fans were thrilled to see Aimee Lou Wood take on the role of Chelsea, a spiritual character who arrives on holiday with her much older boyfriend, Rick (Walton Goggins).

Film Club - 2025

Proving she's just as funny behind the camera as well as in front of it, Aimee made her screen-writing debut in 2025 with new romantic comedy drama, Film Club, which she also stars in alongside Suranne Jones. Aimee plays agoraphobic Evie, who sets up a home cinema in her mum's garage once a week alongside best friend, Noa. It's a will-they-won't they rom-com which shows off Aimee's talents as an up-and-coming screenwriter as well as an actress.

Saturday Night Live UK - May 2026

On 2nd May 2026, Aimee Lou Wood hosted Saturday Night Live UK and made her debut a very self-aware one. In her opening monologue, she made clear: "I am the first northern host", before joking about having "stress dreams" ahead of the gig where should we end up speaking "gibberish", then actually spoke gibberish. She also poked fun at the fact that people say how "bubbly" she is since she got famous, before clarifying the only thing bubbly about her is her "IBS".

The sketch comedy built on that energy. In the promo featuring SNL members seen covering their mouths when she arrived in the studio, she asked: "Have you guys got fake teeth in?" before discovering the cast were actually wearing fake moustaches, turning the earlier SNL US teeth controversy into a punchline, proving once again she couldn't be more proud of her teeth!

Upcoming Beatle biopic - 2028

In 2028, Aimee is set to star in a series of upcoming Beatles biopics, playing George Harrison's wife Pattie Boyd. She'll feature alongside Stranger Things star, Joseph Quinn, who will play George. While Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan have been cast as John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, respectively.
