Sex Education bosses have finally released the return date for the highly anticipation third season of the show, taking to their Instagram to announce that the Netflix series will be hitting our screens on 17th September. After being left on a pretty major cliffhanger in January 2020, we cannot wait to see what series three has in store.

Sharing an image of starring actress Emma Mackey, who plays the whitty Maeve Wiley, donning a school uniform, show bosses wrote: 'change is coming. sex education returns september 17' (sic).

Fans fled to the comments section to share their excitement, with one writing: 'Yessssss 🔥' (sic) and another commenting: 'FINALLY'.

After Asa Butterfield, who plays the loveable Otis Milburn, teasing that we can expect a dramatic third season of Sex Education, it was clear that excitement was well and truly building for the return of the hit Netflix show.

It was back in February 2020 that Netflix confirmed that season three of Sex Education was coming, with the show later teasing in September 2020 that the show was officially in production, after being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Season three of Sex Education will see the return of iconic characters such as Maeve Wiley, Otis Milburn, his mum Dr Jean, Eric Effiong. Aimee Lou Wood, who plays our dear Aimee Gibbs, will also be returning to the show, after being awarded a BAFTA in June for her performance in the show so far.

We can't wait to welcome to gang back with open arms!
