The Crown and The Queen’s Gambit among winners at the Golden Globes 2021

As winners of the Golden Globe Awards 2021 have officially been announced, it was no surprise that 2020 fav The Crown was awarded Best Television Series (drama), as well as taking home various other wins, ranging from praising the show itself to the talented actors that helped make it just a good watch!

The Crown's Gillian Anderson won Best Supporting Actress (television) for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in the show. Gillian's co-star Emma Corrin also took home the award for Best Actress in a Television Series (drama) for her performance as Princess Diana, while Josh O’Connor, who played a young Prince Charles, was awarded Best Actor in a television series (drama).

Olivia Colman's performance as the Queen in The Crown had also landed her a nomination for Best Actress, alongside Emma.

The BBC’s most-streamed series of 2020, Normal People, was nominated for two Golden Globes, including Best TV Limited Series. Daisy Edgar-Jones was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, following her exceptional performance as Marianne Sheridan.

Best TV Limited Series and Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited series, however, went to The Queen’s Gambit and Anya Taylor-Joy for her starring role in the series.

When we caught up with The Crown stars Olivia and Emma, Olivia revealed that, despite the show's huge success, she hopes the royals don’t watch it! Emma also added that she couldn’t resist stealing a gold chain from set! You're only human, Emma...

Other popular nominees included HBO's The Undoing, Emily in Paris and Ratched.

The 78th Golden Globes ceremony was held by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in two different locations, presented by Amy Poehler in Beverly Hills and Tina Fey in New York.
