It's safe to say that the brilliant Maya Jama has had an incredible career so far! After taking on the role of Love Island host in 2023, Maya went on to present Love Island Games, as well Love Island: All Stars, and now she's been announced for series two of The Celebrity Traitors.

To help you get to know Maya a little better, we've put together everything you need to know about the 31-year-old presenter, as Love Island returns to our screens in June.

How old is Maya Jama?

Maya is currently 31-years-old. She was born on 14th August 1994.

Where is Maya Jama from?

Maya was born and grew up in Bristol and has Somali descent on her father’s side and Swedish descent on her mother’s side of the family.

At the age of 16, Maya moved to London to pursue her career, initially aspiring to become an actress, having even auditioned for a series of Skins when she was 15.

Does Maya have any siblings?

She does! Maya has a younger brother called Omar, who is a model.

How did Maya become successful?

Early career

Maya has worked hard from a young age, having started out presenting a weekly music video countdown on JumpOff.TV and working for as a host for TRACE Sports on Sky. In 2014, Maya presented Maya’s FIFA World Cup Cities for Copa90, a travel series which covered the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Also in 2014, Maya started working for MTV as a presenter for The Wrap Up. She also worked as a radio presenter from 2014 to 2020.

Big roles

She then hosted from the BRIT Awards red carpet in 2017 before going on to become a presenter on the ITV gameshow Cannonball later that year. At the age of 23, Maya was the youngest person to present the MOBO Awards in November 2017, teaming up with co-host Marvin Humes.

201\8 saw Maya become a host on The Circle alongside Alice Levine. Also in 2018, Maya was a presenter on Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer fundraising show, as well as becoming a team captain on the ITV2 panel show, Don’t Hate The Playaz.

202\0 saw Maya join the BBC One show Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer. In 2021, she was announced as the presenter of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star, taking over from the show’s previous host Stacey Dooley. Maya presented Glow Up for two series. 2021 also saw Maya present Simon Cowell’s music game show Walk The Line.

Love Island

Maya was announced as Love Island presenter in October 2022, taking over from previous host Laura Whitmore.

Speaking about the role at the time of the announcement, Maya said: “I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation's favourite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all the Islanders.”

In addition to hosting Love Island, Maya also presented Love Island Games in August 2023, and Love Island: All Stars in 2024 and 2025.

Maya returned to host series 12 of Love Island, which launched on our screens on Monday 4th June 2025. Maya entered the villa a number of times throughout the series, including during the final where she announced Toni Laites and Cach Mercer as the winners.

She was also back for the second and third series of All Stars in Winter 2025 and 2026.

It's also now been confirmed Maya will host series 13 of Love Island, which begins on 1st June.

Is she quitting Love Island?

Maya Jama is not stepping down from her hosting role on Love Island, with the presenter confirming the news herself following weeks of rumours that she was leaving the show.

Rumours began to swirl in December 2024 that Maya would be leaving her role as Love Island host, with former Islander Maura Higgins allegedly taking her role. Maya took to her Instagram to confirm that she she has 'no plans to leave right now', and will return to host in 2025.

Maya wrote: 'I will be presenting Love Island next year and have no plans to leave right now', adding: 'Filmed the promo a couple of days ago actually. Fake news is fake news-ing as usual'.

The BRIT Awards

Maya hosted the 2024 BRIT Awards in March, alongside Clara Amfo and Roman Kemp.

Speaking ahead of the event, Maya said: “I'm really excited to be hosting The BRIT Awards alongside Clara and Roman. I’ve worked alongside the incredible team at the BRITs for years now and it’s something I always watched, and wanted to be a part of, growing up - so it’s amazing to be on the stage this year hosting it! It’s always one of the best nights of the year for me, and a real celebration of British music, culture, and talent.”

The ceremony took place on Saturday 2nd March. Following her hosting role, Maya took to Instagram to share a series of snaps from the BRITs.

The Masked Singer

On Wednesday 25th September 2024, it was announced that Maya Jama would be joining The Masked Singer panel for the 2025 series, replacing Rita Ora.

Maya said: “I'm such a Masked Singer fan, so joining the panel alongside Davina, Jonathan, and Mo—and of course working with Joel—is going to be so much fun! I can't wait to figure out who's underneath all those incredible costumes, vibe to their performances, and get front-row seats to the unmaskings. I've watched the show for a long time, so I'm definitely bringing my A-game to the panel!"

Returning again in 2026, Maya appeared on the panel alongside Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan, whilst Joel Dommett continues to host the show.

The Celebrity Traitors

At the beginning of May 2026, the BBC announced the line-up for the second series of The Celebrity Traitors.

Maya Jama features on the line-up, alongside names such as Bella Ramsey, James Blunt, Miranda Hart, Romesh Ranganathan and Sharon Rooney.

Filming took place in Scotland in May 2026, with the show set to hit our screens in the Autumn.

Who is Maya Jama dating now?

As of May 2026, it looks like Maya Jama is currently single, following her split from Manchester City footballer Rúben Dias.

Is Maya Jama back with Stormzy?

Maya and Stormz called it a day once again in July 2024, taking to Instagram with a joint statement: 'We’ve spent this past year trying our best to make it work; however, we recently decided to call it quits.

'We still think the absolute world of each other, we still care and respect each other, we are still grateful for the time we’ve had together, and we are still friends and will always be friends.'

In 2014, Maya was first in a relationship with Stormzy. The rapper’s 2016 song ‘Birthday Girl’ was dedicated to Maya for her 22nd birthday - however, sadly, in 2019 the couple broke up.

Fans were delighted when the couple reunited in August 2023, being pictured enjoying a holiday to Greece together. Since rekindling their romance, Maya and Stormzy have enjoyed attending events together, appearing loved-up and hand-in-hand, with fans gushing over sweet snaps of the pair.

In June 2024, Maya posted some rare photos alongside Stormzy as the pair attended a Louis Vuitton menswear show at Paris Fashion Week. She wrote: 'LVovers 🖤', sharing pictures alongside Stormzy.

Maya often commented on Stormzy's posts - including his November 2023 Vogue cover, where she commented: '👏👏❤️ Now we can hang both our covers on the wall 🤪'. (sic)

The former couple were later spotted enjoying Glastonbury with one another, before Maya headed to support her man at the F1 Grand Prix of Great Britain, at Silverstone Circuit, where he took to the main stage to perform on Friday 5th July 2024.

Although the pair have called it quits once more, they remain good friends.

Maya Jama and Rúben Dias

Rumours were rife in early January 2025 that Maya had been enjoying a number of dates with footballer Rúben Dias, after the pair were spotted together in Ibiza on New Year's Eve.

A source said: “Maya and Ruben swapped details at the EMAs and have chatted since, but things went up a gear in early December.

“When Ruben got injured and had to miss the congested new year fixtures, he jumped at the chance to see in 2025 with Maya in Spain."

In April 2025, Maya and Rúben couldn't help themselves pack on the PDA as they attended KSI's Baller League event in London.

Although the pair kept quite silent on their relationship on social media, in May 2025, Maya posted a video where she was sat alongside Rúben in the car, as the pair were being followed by a van of paparazzi.

Later in May 2025, following the end of the Premier League football season, Maya and Rúben jetted off to the Amalfi Coast in Italy, where Maya shared a video of her topless boyfriend on a luxury yacht, alongside the caption 'Perve Cam'.

However, in May 2026, rumours were rife the pair had called it a day.

Maya Jama and Ben Simmons

In May 2021, rumours that Maya was dating basketball player Ben Simmons emerged, with the pair later going on to confirm their relationship at Wimbledon that year. In January 2022, Maya was spotted wearing an engagement ring, with Maya confirming the news on her Instagram Story on Valentine’s Day in 2022.

The pair were said to have ended their engagement in August 2022.

Does Maya have her own company?

She sure does! In 2020, Maya launched her own beauty brand MIJ Masks, with her debut range of face masks selling out in the first week.

In a quote on the company website, Maya said: "MIJ Masks are for every face and any moment. Whether I’m heading to a shoot, slouching on a plane or prepping for a night with my huns, you’ll find me treating my skin to some well-deserved TLC.
