Harrison has QUIT the Love Island villa

It's safe to say 22-year-old Harrison Solomon has had his fair share of drama over the last few weeks in the Love Island villa. The footballer has been involved in a love triangle with American girl Toni Laites and Casa Amor Islander Lauren Wood, resulting in lots of tears and meltdowns by both girls.

Despite sleeping with Lauren, Harrison then chose to tell Toni he wanted her to choose him at the recoupling, resulting in the pair reconciling, leaving Lauren in floods of tears and inconsolable.

However, after Harrison confessed his actions in the bedroom to Toni, she was appalled and immediately apologised to Lauren, revealing she had no idea of his behaviour.

Has Harrison quit Love Island?

Yes! After Lauren was brutally dumped on the spot following the arrival of new bombshell Angel, Harrison chose to quit and follow her the day after.

The scenes played out during the episode on Friday 17th July, with Lauren and Harrison reuniting on Love Island: Aftersun on Sunday 20th July.

Speaking about leaving, he said: "When Lauren left the Villa, my Love Island experience just wasn’t the same. I felt like my journey was finished which is why I decided to leave. When Lauren first got the text saying she was being dumped my initial reaction to her leaving was ‘I’m going’. I came here and found what I wanted. Having said that, I didn’t want to make an emotional decision, I’m quite an indecisive person and so I wanted to take my time with it, rather than leave and regret what I’d done. The fact I stayed a day later and processed everything really helped me. Me leaving was making a big statement. It shows her I’m really into her and see a serious future with her."

After witnessing Harrison's behaviour on the show between the two girls, Women's Aid released a statement to condemn his actions.

Jessye Werner, communications manager at Women’s Aid said: “In recent years, Love Island and other forms of reality TV have been repeatedly called out by viewers for allowing in contestants that had a history of abusive, coercive and manipulative behaviour in previous relationships. As a result, production companies have been more careful when it comes to selecting contestants and calling out toxic behaviours when we see them.

“Despite these positive steps, we still see unhealthy patterns of behaviour on these shows, showing just how steeped in misogyny and sexism our society still is. Women are often lied to, slut-shamed and manipulated, as well as laughed at behind their backs. Misogyny and sexism lay the foundation for the tolerance of abuse and violence – it reinforces a culture that excuses and trivialises violence against women and girls. More must be done to educate contestants on sexism and misogyny, and it is a great credit to viewers who take to social media, continuing to call out these behaviours as soon as they see them.”
