Big congratulations are in order to Nicki Minaj! Thanks to her track 'Super Freaky Girl', Nicki has become the first female rapper to have a song debut at Number 1 in the Billboard Hot 100, in over two decades! Lauryn Hill was the last female rapper to have a song hit the top spot, way back in 1998, with her hit 'Doo Wop (That Thing)'.
Nicki took to her socials to celebrate the news by sharing a post from Pop Base with her 201 million followers writing: '🥹 You did it barbz. You did it. 🫶🏽 I love you so much. like so so SO much. Thank you. 🎀'. (sic)
She also shared a slide with all the other Number 1s the single has achieved.
Since the news came out, the 'Super Bass' rapper's fans have been congratulating her, one wrote: 'U DESERVE SO MUCH I LOVE U BABBYYYY' (sic), another typed: 'We love you Nicki😍'.
Nicki also took to Twitter to thank her fans for helping her reach Number 1 in the US saying: 'You did it 🥹'.
Nicki's 'Super Freaky Girl' is her first solo single in nearly three years, AND her first Number 1 in the US as a solo artist. The rapper is known for many of her fantastic collaborations, two of which have previously given her Number 1s in 2020 'Trollz' with 6ix9ine, and 'Say So' (Remix) with Doja Cat.
Nicki has also had some huge hits namely 'Super Bass', 'Starships' and 'Anaconda', she's also featured on Little Mix's 'Woman Like Me', which reached Number 2 in the UK. Despite her success, she hasn't had a solo Number 1 until now in the US. However, all four of her albums have reached the sunny heights of Number 1 and 2.
Meanwhile, here in the UK, Nicki's only Number 1 has been her hit with with Jessie J and Ariana Grande, 'Bang Bang' in 2014.
