You've heard of Blue Monday, right? Well this is a Blue Monday worth getting excited about, as this morning we've had our first proper look at Will Smith as the Genie in Disney's live-action adaptation of the classic film, Aladdin - and YES, he's blue!

The new trailer has already amassed nearly two million views (a number that's sure to keep rising). In the minute-long video, we get a glimpse of Aladdin entering and then becoming trapped in the Cave of Wonders, reaching out to hold Jasmine's hand (presumably before the infamous carpet ride), and then the hero rubbing the lamp to release the genie. Feast your eyes...

The film is described by the Walt Disney company as, 'A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah,'

The film stars Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as villain Jafar and Navid Negahban as the Sultan.

Will Smith had been keeping fans updated during filming, sharing updates on his social media pages.

And back in October 2018 he shared the movie poster with fans on Instagram and wrote, 'LEMME OUT!! 🧞 Can’t wait for y’all to see Me BLUE! :-) #aladdin'. Now we have seen him blue we are SO EXCITED to see the film when it comes out in May!
