Love Island's Gemma Owen refuses to name drop dad Michael's name
She spoke about her dad on Thursday night's show
So, we all know by now that Love Island 2022 contestant Gemma Owen is the 19-year-old daughter of former professional footballer Michael Owen, but as of now, Gemma's fellow contestants haven't a clue who her dad is!
Despite chats with co-star Liam Llewellyn about football earlier this week, Gemma is yet to reveal the name of her dad, but fans thought it was finally going to be the moment during a chat with Luca Bish last night (Thursday 9th June).
After the pair enjoyed a kiss in the latest game, Luca pulled Gemma for a chat on the terrace, where he asked: "Who do you feel like your family would get on best with out of all the boys in here?"
After Gemma said: "You", she went on to add: "Because you're sporty and you're into football and into racing. I think my dad would have stuff in common with you."
Clueless as to who her famous dad is, Luca then asked: "Would your dad and me go out and do stuff together? Or does he not get involved with your boyfriends?"
Giving an insight into her relationship with her dad, Gemma replied: "He was quite close with my first boyfriend and I think he appreciates a guy who is into sports and all that kind of stuff. So I heard you like talking about football and racing and all that, so I'm like hmm."
Unaware that Gemma's dad has played for clubs such as Liverpool, Newcastle and Real Madrid in the past, not to mention England, Luca confessed: "I enjoy playing football. I know what I'm talking about with football as well. Let's see if he knows what he's talking about."
Much to the shock of viewers, Gemma remained silent and refused to 'name drop' Michael, leading to a number of hilarious memes online...

Earlier this week Michael broke his silence about his daughter's appearance on Love Island, speaking during on Channel 4's coverage of England's Nations League game against Germany.
Presenter Jules Breach asked: "A big night for the Owen's last night Michael, how are you feeling?"
An awkward Michael responded saying: "I came all the way to Germany to try and avoid all that back home, but it has been brought up straight away!
"But I am feeling alright. This is taking my mind off it so don’t bring it back up."
Although Gemma is now coupled up with Italian hunk Davide Sanclimenti, the arrival of bombshell Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has seemingly made Gemma rethink her options, admitting she finds fishmonger Luca very attractive.
With the first recoupling set to take place on Friday night's show, there's really no guessing who will couple up with who!
