Iain Stirling hints Love Island could move to the UK

After the success of I'm A Celebrity...

After the 2020 Summer series of ITV2 dating show Love Island was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, fans were over the moon earlier this month when bosses announced applications for the 2021 series are now open.

However, as the UK continues to see high numbers of COVID-19 cases, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson has suspended all of the UK's travel corridors, the new series could still be in doubt.

Well, if voiceover guy Iain Stirling has anything to do with it, the 2021 series could follow in the footsteps of I'm A Celebrity and be filmed right here in the UK!

During a recent chat with metro.co.uk, the dad-to-be said, "Hey, let’s see what happens. Like I said, I’ve no idea, but it could be quite amusing seeing Love Island contestants embracing the beaches of Bognor Regis at some point.

"When they can’t eat their dinner because seagulls are taking it off the plate… it could mix it up.

"I genuinely thought I’m A Celeb was so brilliant this year, it’s an option."

Check out all of the potential locations in the UK where Love Island could be filmed 🙈:

Of course, ITV haven't yet confirmed where or even if the 2021 series will go ahead this Summer, and with COVID-19 cases changing every week, we suspect it bosses will wait as long as possible to make a decision.

It's also not yet known if Laura Whitmore will return to host the show, after the presenter announced she's pregnant with her first child at the end of last year.

As well as confirming she married Iain Stirling in 2020, Laura told fans, 'So I’ve always tried to be protective over the personal side of my life. A lot of things are just for me and my loved ones and we’ve chosen not to share publicly. However I want to now share good news as it’s our news to share - and I’m gonna be honest it’s starting to look like my lock down beer belly is out of control.

'Iain and I are expecting a baby early 2021. It’s been hard to keep such happy news quiet. Especially the times when I’ve had to run out of live radio to get sick in a bin or my penchant for a bowl of mashed potato in the morning. I wasn’t hungover like everyone thought. In fact I was completely sober filming the entire series of Celeb Juice, which is quite the accolade!' (sic)

Meanwhile, if you do fancy taking part in the 2021 series of Love Island, and perhaps becoming the new Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague, applications are now open for the seventh series.

The entry form states, 'ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who want to head to the sun, in search of a summer of love. The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another, but to remain in paradise they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island.'

Applications close on the 30th April 2021.
