Following the successful revival of ITV gameshow The Cube back in October last year, bosses confirmed Phillip Schofield was heading back with a brand new series in 2021. But when does The Cube begin? How can you sign up?

Unlike the specials last year which saw the jackpot rise to ÂŁ1 million, the new series of The Cube has gone back to its original format, with pairs of contestants taking on The Cube in an attempt to win ÂŁ250,000.

Here's everything you need to know about The Cube ahead of the 2021 series...

How do I apply for The Cube?

ITV bosses were looking for contestants to sign up for the 2021 series of The Cube, in pairs and from the same household, back in March 2021. Sadly, applications for The Cube closed at 6pm on Friday 30th April.

Although contestants will feature on the show in a pair, just like the past series, there will be solo games and brand new two player challenges which take both skill and determination.

The application form stated: 'Due to Covid-19 BOTH APPLICANTS must be currently living in the same household or be part of the same household support bubble.'

When does The Cube 2021 begin?

The Cube has officially begun, and airs on ITV on Saturdays from 7.30pm.

Filming took place earlier this year, and was thought to be complete by July.

The application form read: 'FILMING IS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE IN LONDON BETWEEN FRIDAY 21st and THURSDAY 27th MAY 2021 AND IF SELECTED, TRANSPORT WILL BE PROVIDED.'

Not only will The Cube return for a six-part contestant series, ITV have also confirmed there will be two special celebrity episodes, with well-known faces attempting to win a massive ÂŁ250,000 for their charities.

OMG Entertainment’s Ed de Burgh said: “We are delighted that The Cube is coming back. This series promises to be another edge of your seat, sweaty-palmed treat for the whole family, with a fiercer than ever Cube looking to put our pairs of contestants through their paces.”

Who is hosting The Cube?

The one and only Phillip Schofield, of course!

Phil presented the show from when it began in 2009 up until 2015, making his grand return in 2020 when ITV decided to reboot the show.

Philip was recently moved to tears while hosting the show, as a grandfather and his granddaughter went home with a massive ÂŁ100,000!

Where is The Cube filmed?

From 2020 onwards, The Cube has been filmed in the Television Centre, in West London.

Speaking about the new series, host Phillip Schofield said: “It was such a treat to be back in the studio last year, with the pairs of contestants adding a whole new twist on the drama inside the box. This series you’ll see a whole new side to The Cube… get ready to be on the edge of your sofas!”

How does The Cube work?

Simple, really. The show gives contestants the chance to win a cash prize if they are able to complete various mental and physical challenges from within a 4m Ă— 4m Ă— 4m Perspex cube.

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV added, “The Cube remains a firm favourite with our viewers and with the brilliant Phillip Schofield at the helm, it's guaranteed to be another great series packed with drama, tension and entertainment.”

You may find yourself thinking, has anyone ever beaten The Cube? Well, the answer is yes... And no. Since The Cube started back in 2009, no one has beaten The Cube in the normal episodes of the show. In the celebrity version held for charity, Mo Farah did, however, manage to win the top prize.

Where can I watch The Cube?

The Cube will air on ITV on Saturdays from 7.30pm.
