Love Island viewers were left in complete shock yesterday (Tuesday 11th June) when 20-year-old Sherif Lanre was removed from the villa after 'breaking the rules'.

Despite 1831663 million different rumours emerging online as to why he was removed, ITV are yet to confirm the specifics, simply saying, "After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”

Now, after Iain Stirling briefly mentioned Sherif's exit on last night's show, Sherif's mum Diana Rollanson-Williams has now broken her silence.

Speaking to Mail Online, Diana said, "I don't know the real reason yet, but I'm determined to get to the bottom of it.

"I don't know if he has actually done anything wrong yet. I need to look at his Love Island code of conduct and I need to speak to him properly to find out what really happened."

Diana then added, "But I'm his mum, I'm going to think it was a bit unfair. I think so. I'm going to defend my son."

Despite not posting anything on his socials just yet, Sherif did release a statement, admitting he did break the villa rules.

He said, “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa. I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from. I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”

Although ITV are yet to confirm which rule Sherif actually broke, many rumours are rife online, with one in particular saying he 'spent hours alone in the shower.'

There's a number of rules that Islanders can be removed from the villa for, including masturbating, inappropriate language or behaviour, nudity, discrimination against staff and more. See the full Love Island rule book here.

Meanwhile, in other Love Island news, two brand new girls are set to enter the villa tonight, Irish girl Maura Higgins and Essex girl Elma Pazar.
