After being axed from their usual Friday slot on ITV Daytime show This Morning last year, fans of the show were devastated when married couple Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes didn't return over half term, even though bosses claimed they would.

Despite new Friday hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary taking the reigns during May half term, Loose Women star Ruth has now confirmed she will be back on the This Morning sofa alongside her hubby Eamonn over the Summer!

As always, usual hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will be taking the Summer off, with Ruth confirming herself and Eamonn will take over for seven weeks.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Ruth said: "We’ll be doing seven weeks from July. I’m looking forward to it."

As well as a brand new promotional advert hitting ITV today (Monday 5th July) for Ruth and Eamonn's return, Friday hosts Alison and Dermot said their goodbyes last week.

Last Friday, Dermot said: "Phil and Holly back on Monday for the final week before summer and that's it for us."

Alison added: "I can't believe it! I've had such a lovely time and thank you to everyone, all the crew, all the staff for making it so easy for us. We'll be back in September. You've been amazing!"

It was back in November last year when it was announced that Alison and Dermot would be replacing Ruth and Eamonn on Friday mornings.

An insider told the Daily Mirror at the time: "They have real warmth. It's time for a change and they are perfect. Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made.”

However, Ruth later broke her silence at the beginning of December, wishing Alison and Dermot good luck as on Instagram.

Re-sharing This Morning's official post, Ruth told fans: 'It’s a changing of the guard on Fridays from January. We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two!

'It’s not Goodbye from us, it’s simply Au Revoir until the next half term.' (sic)

Ruth and Eamonn will be back on This Morning from Monday 12th July.
