Following the tragic death of former Love Island host Caroline Flack last week, ITV bosses decided to dedicate last night's (Sunday 23rd February) final in her honor.

Just before the first ad break, new host Laura Whitmore appeared on camera, holding back her tears as she emotionally told viewers, "The past week has been extremely difficult, coming to terms with the loss of our friend and colleague, Caroline.

"Caroline loved Love Island, she loved love, and that's why tonight's final is dedicated to her," before a montage of Caroline's Love Island best bits played out.

After seeing the tribute, many viewers were reduced to tears, taking to Twitter to express how 'beautiful' it was.

One user wrote, 'Lovely tribute to Caroline Flack. Her iconic walk, her bubbly presenting and her awesome laugh will be missed. Forever queen of #loveisland'. (sic)

Another added, Beautiful touch from Love Island on that tribute for Caroline Flack❤', with a third writing, 'A beautiful moving tribute to Caroline Flack on @LoveIsland tonight'. (sic)

Caroline, who presented Love Island between 2015-2019, sadly passed away at her London flat on Saturday 15th February, with her family confirming the devastating news in a statement.

It read, "We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February. We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time."

After cancelling two episodes following the tragic news, Love Island voice over and close friend of Caroline's, Iain Stirling, paid tribute to his friend during last Monday's episode, saying, "We are absolutely devastated by the tragic news that Caroline, a much-loved member of our Love Island family, has passed away.

"Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this dreadful time."

He added, "Caroline and me were together from the very start of Love Island and her passion, warmth and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made the show connect with millions of viewers."

"Caroline, I want to thank you for all the fun times we had making our favourite show. You were a true friend to me. I'm going to miss you, Caz."
