Celebrity Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls and Holly Willoughby has been AXED

Following her exit from This Morning at the back end of 2023, Holly Willoughby landed a major gig, joining Netflix alongside survival expert and adventurer Bear Grylls for a new competition show called Celebrity Bear Hunt.

The series, which was filmed in Costa Rica, involved a host of celebrities being dropped into the Central American jungle, with the show airing back in February.

Will there be another series?

Despite the series being popular, Mail Online are now reporting that Celebrity Bear Hunt has been axed, with the show reportedly being too expensive to make.

A source told the publication: ‘Everyone was very proud of the show but when it came to it, it was just so expensive to make. You had to have a whole set in Costa Rica, loads of staff and loads of celebrities. The overheads were eyewatering.’

The news of Celebrity Bear Hunt was initially announced just days after Holly presented the live Dancing On Ice final in 2024. with Netflix bosses writing online: 'Introducing Bear Hunt – this new action-packed competition show sees a group of unlikely British celebrities dropped into the Central American jungle as prey for one of the world’s most fearsome predators... @beargrylls! Hosted by @hollywilloughby – coming to Netflix in 2025. #NextOnNetflix' (sic)

Netflix say of the show: 'Holly Willoughby hosts this action-packed competition show that sees a group of unlikely British celebrities dropped into the Central American jungle as prey for one of the world's most fearsome predators – Bear Grylls. Bear believes there’s an action hero inside us all - even the celebs - but how strong is their will to survive?

'As Bear puts them through their paces, those who fail to impress will face the dreaded ‘Bear Hunt’ – a brutal game of cat and mouse where they’ll be hunted down by Bear himself and, if captured, eliminated from the show.'
